I WAS ON TICKETMASTER AT EXACTLY 12:00 FOR PEARL JAM TICKETS....I GOT THROUGH BUT LAWN SEATS CAME UPWITHIN SECONDS FOR BEST AVAILABLE ( WHICH I WASNT INTERESTED IN ) SO THEN I CLICK ON $68.00 AND IT COMES UP SAYING NOTHING IS AVAILABLE.....YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.
I'VE HEARD THAT THE SCALPERS HAVE A WAY TO OVERRIDE REGULAR CUSTOMERS BUT THIS IS GETTING OUT OF HAND....GUARANTED YOU WILL SEE 1001 SECTIONS AVAILABLE ON ALL THE TICKET WEBSITE....I'M SO MAD RIGHT NOW cry.gif

THANK YOU FOR LETTING ME VENT

It's cool, that's why were here. I was also wondering what the ticket service charge could be on Adam K. in Pitt. The tickets are only 7 bucks, is the service charge half that total? If anyone knows, please post! smile.gif

Yes, ticketmaster sucks. However, they are actually taking steps to try to prevent automated programs from being used on their website, but their case is still pending (and, with most legal cases, will probably be pending for quite a while).

For those not familiar, here is, essentially, how scalpers do what they do:

(I stole these words from a former Oracle Database Administrator who posts on Pearl Jam's message board):

"What they use is something called 'character recognition' in their programs. This is software that can screen scrape the value in the block, scan it (just like a regular scanner does, except this one can recognize numbers and letters and convert them. The Word is entered and they get in. all of this happens in the blink of an eye.
Once they are in, they can find out the system generated login code and lock it down. This allows their progran to block any other incoming request and they just keep using this same login code to repetedly purchase the maximum amount of best available tickets charged to different charge accounts. One scalper with 100 different charge accounts can buy up 400 tickets (if the maximum tickets per person is 4) in a matter of seconds."

Sucks big time.

On a more positive note, what show were you trying to get tickets to? Although it may be a long shot, people on the Pearl Jam board are really generous about buying tickets that they don't plan to use from ticketmaster and selling them back to actual fans of the band for face value (it's a way to fuck at least a few scalpers, anyway). I have quite a few connections over there, so I can try to find a pair for you if you want.

PS - If lawn tickets are still available, get them! Nobody parties on the lawn better than PJ fans! rockin.gif

Here's the ticketmaster trick:

I find frequently that ticketmaster holds better tickets and releases them periodically as it gets closer to the event.

When purchasing my last Live tickets I went online right away and the tickets offered were in the back of the pavilion. I checked back for about a month and the tickets kept getting better. I ended up with 7th row tickets to the right of the stage. Two days later I kicked myself because 2nd row tickets center stage were being offered.

When trying to get Bruce Springsteen tickets I could only get in the last row of the upper bowl. I kept checking back every day and the day before the show 2nd row mainfloor tickets were released.

You just have to be patient and check back on a daily basis!

I saw that Ticketmaster was selling tickets yesterday for Adam's show and was going to buy them through there, I never even thought about fees or anything until your post. So, I just went to buy the tickets and for 3 tickets it will cost me $34, that's with the $3 Convenience fee for each ticket and $4 processing fee, now if this money was going directly to Adam I would have no problem what so ever paying it but since it is going to Ticketmaster I think I'll just pay the $7 dollar cover charge when I get there like I did last time. Although the more I think about I might just buy one ticket through Ticketmaster because I think it would be neat to actually have a ticket for one of Adam's shows but I'm a bit crazy about things like that so it might just be me.

Anyway back in 2006 Dave Chappelle did a show down in Pittsburgh my sister really wanted to go and by the time she tried to get tickets for it through Ticketmaster nothing was available except for the back sections that she refused to buy. I checked a couple of times seeing if new seats where available and about a week before the show tickets in the 6th row opened up and I ended up getting them for her birthday.

I'm telling you it happens all of the time.
