So far I've only found one Throwing Copper b-side and that's "We Deal in Dreams". Hasn't there been any other cuts that didn't make the album released? Like maybe something on import versions, singles, soundtracks? Or a cover or two on some tribute/soundtrack? I know there's been a lot of demo tapes and stuff released, but I'm looking for stuff from the actual TD sessions.

Susquehanna was supposed to be on TC, it is fantastic, one of the best. The TC demo tape is also somewhere you want to look.

Get Susquehanna from the download section of this site and the Demo tape is in the downloads thread.

Yeah, Susquehanna is really great. I wish we had a better recording of it at least. Lift Me Up is also available in pretty decent quality.

Does anyone actually have that rereleased Lift Me Up mp3? I remember for years there was a really primitive version out, and then a couple of years ago a slightly better mastered version found its way online, it just sounded a bit more full or something.

I wish Ed would leak album-quality versions of "Susquehanna" and "Lift Me Up" (I'm sure he will sometime). Just like he did with "Born Branded". As for "We Deal in Dreams", that's an awesome song anyway, I'm surprised it wasn't on the album.

Why would Ed himself leak them?

if you listen close, 'we deal in dreams' shares just about the same chord progression as lightning crashes... at least in terms of the beginning of both songs.

i'm guessing when throwing copper was being made, they liked the guitar line so much, they gave it to both songs knowing only one would get released.

as for ed being cool enough to leak those songs to the fans, if i were you i would NOT hold my breath on that. at some point, probably every single member of the band has made similar promises and then completely flaked.

don't get me wrong, live has created some truly great music, and fans love them for it.

but in appreciating their music, most fans end up inadvertently putting the creators up on some pedestal, as if they're better than any one else (or cooler, for that matter). there's actually a psychological term for this kind of thing. it's called the halo effect. like when a guy sees a very attractive woman and automatically assumes she's more trustworthy than her really ugly friend.

this june will mark ten years since chad gracey personally told me the songs would come out. and that's the only example i really care to share since i'm not writing this post to trash the band despite their unreliability.

you want someone to make cool music, call live. you want someone to deliver on all their empty promises, hire someone who actually has a good track record, and get that sh#t in writing.

Because it was him who leaked "Born Branded", or so I've been told.

Because of natural psychological tendencies, that makes me assume that he would also be the one to leak the CD-quality TE outtakes.

Um... the chord progressions are no more alike than most Live songs. Sorry.

Ed himself? heynow.gif you can be right, but I have never heard of one of the band members just leaking something.
The only thing that came close was Chad T giving a (very old) video (PA days) to Jimmy Lang, that he uploaded for us.

What makes you think Ed leaked 'Born Branded'? That track was included on a Radioactive Records sampler CD in 1993.

It's so easy to distribute stuff online nowadays without being traced so if any of the band members wanted to leak material then they could easily do it.

yeah, after a petition for releasing that song by fans, I heard
haha, that's really cool I think.
but God knows how the fans knew that the song existed, before it was released on the single?

Vine Street was played during the Secret Samadhi tour as well at a number of shows in 1998.
