Does anyone have the ability to remix a song off of a CD?

Yesterday, while listening to my iPod, I found that if you only played Radiant Sea through the right speaker it cut out most of the background crap that I hate about the song, which made it totally awesome.

If you could cut out the left speaker sound and mix it so the right came out of everything only, I would love that version!

While it's been a while since I have used it or perhaps there is a better program out there, but I used to be able to do a lot with Mp3 Pro.

That's easily done.

I'll make a new mix of the track tonight, but if you want to give it a go yourself I'd recommend downloading Audacity - http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

All you need to do is copy the right channel over to the left channel.

I have no idea how to do that stuff.

If either of you could do it that would be awesome. The song is way better if you filter out the rap in the background and most of it comes out of one speaker.

I'm pretty sure I was listening to my right headphone since it was in my right ear, but it was dark so it may have been the left.

Thanks for the tip! I'll have some fun with this program!

Thank you for the link, I had heard of Audacity but I thought it was just a player, not an editor. I have been using like 3 other programs to do stuff like this but now hopefully I can get rid of them.

I messed around with the track tonight but I was unable to filter out the rap part of the track. The left and right channels are very similar so I don't know why you couldn't hear the rap when only listening to the right channel...

Maybe somebody with more audio editing experience could get a better result?

Argh. This thread makes me ill inside.

I don't have the song so I don't know, but even if the rap is coming out of just one channel, you can't just completely get rid of the channel in question and expect the track to sound good! You're essentially turning it in to a mono mix. And losing all the information that is panned hard, or even panned at all, in the process.

No. Just no.

I'm sorry, I didn't mean cutting out the rap verse of the song. I meant cutting out the background repeat throughout the song that sounds like a whisper. It is primarily played through the left speaker, so cutting it out and listening throught the right eliminates most of it.

I opened the song in Cool Edit Pro. Both channels have the rap-bridge and all the associated Ed "sounds". The only way you'd get a mix the way you want would be to get all the master tracks, mute the extra crap and save out a new file.

Interestingly enough, the solo at the end of the song only comes out of the left channel. Go figure. Had they done that with the rap part of the song, I could have easily chopped that portion of the song out and re-saved it so it was just a musical bridge, but that's not possible.

Sorry. sad.gif

I checked this out specifically just now. I took the file, muted the left channel, copied the right channel and pasted it over the left channel. You can still hear Ed's whispering those words in the second chorus before the bridge. I don't think that there's any way to totally remove that stuff without the rest of the song taking a significant quality hit... ie: sound like absolute ass.
