Post any thoughts of movies that you've seen or plan to see here.

-The last movie I saw was Bee Movie and I liked it a lot. I'm a fan of Seinfeld's humor though.

-That new George Clooney film was horrible though. It got awesome reviews but I felt it was impossible to follow and pretty dull.

Anyone else see anything of note?

It's not exactly a movie, but I saw the special presentaion of The Menagerie (Star Trek: TOS) on the big screen in high definiton last week They really did a good job on it, and I highly approve. The purists always have the original DVD version, and the rest of us have a picture that is free from scratches and has vibrant color and deeper contrast. It's much more 3-D and the closeups are stunning. In The Menagerie the Cage scenes that are viewed on the Enterprise monitor are the old picture that suddenly becomes the new picture once the monitor frame disappears. That really highlights the difference.

The old exterior special effects simply wouldn't work with the vastly improved picture. As was pointed out in the 'remastering of' featurette, the effects would have been done this way originally if they had had the technology.

Star Trek is iconic of it's era, the sixties, a time of dreams. This loving update in quality will insure it's endurance as a time capsule for future generations.

Are you excited for the new Star Trek movie coming out next Christmas? I really can't wait to see what they do with the franchise. My hopes are high and I don't want to be let down.

We just bought Disney's 'Meet the Robinsons' this weekend. I didn't like The Incredibles much, and I thought this would be just like it but this is way better. It kinda reminds me of Nickelodeon's Jimmy Neutron if anything. Its a good movie, one of Disney's better ones in recent times.

Right now it's all about the new Batman movie for me, has anyone seen the viral marketing campaign they have done with it? Jesus christ ... nothing like that's quite been done before, all the websites and codes to break, pictures you had to take and send in, recieving phone calls, dobbing in crooked cops, reading the gotham times newspaper and the jokers equivelent the hahatimes .. anything short of the greatest movie of all time will be disappointing.

IPB Image

bring it on!

Other than that, I have to admit I'm mildly excited for Alien vs Predator, they'll get it wrong, but anything is better than the last one, and at least this one won't be rater PG or whatever it was.

And the above mentioned star trek movie - Simon Pegg as Scotty? count me in!

This has been a good year for movies... I have seen 3 this year and It takes an incredible movie to get me to spend 8 dollars on a ticket.

I am going to see "The Golden Compass" because I read the books as a kid and I really want them to make all 3 movies. I'll be sure to post on here to tell you guys how it went...

If you guys have no clue what the the movie is about, I'll explain. A girl named Lyra notices her friends start dissappearing and she learns of a feindish plot by the Church to seperate children's souls (In this world, souls are in animal form outside of you representative of your personaility) to harness the power(Dust) that comes out. She forms alliances with an armoured polar bear, a Texan hot air balloon pilot, and a tribe of witches and follows a mysterious "Golden Compass" that always points to the truth.

I'm a big Disney fan and have rented the movie and I just need to find the time to watch. If its as good as the Jimmy Neutron movie, I will be more than satisfied.

I also didn't like the Incredibles. I found it too dark and very short on fun.

As for the Batman movie, I am extremely excited! I love Morgan Freeman and I think Michael Caine plays a great Alfred. Pokey, can you post a link to all the Batman teasers?

Also, if anyone sees the Golden Compass, be sure to tell us what you think. I'm on the fence about seeing that film.

It is better than The Incredibles. Aren't we all getting tired of superheroes?? I found it a refreshing movie good for the whole family.

Also, I highly recommend the Futurama movie. If you are a fan of the show, the Hiatus hasn't dulled the humour. It offers a compelling plot that isn't as transparent as some animated movie can be. I watched it on DVD and Youtube because it was good enough to see twice.

I just spent like... 12 mins looking for it. It has been removed from Youtube, soz to get your hopes up.

"No Country for Old Men", best film of the year, and best I've seen in a long time.

Speaking of Disney, my wife has been wanting to see "Enchanted", and it is actually getting great reviews right now, so I think we will be going to see it here soon.

Also two movies opening up here soon that I really wanna see "Juno" and "Atonement" both look fantastic.

This is the only official clip so far for advertising:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWw0ov-cAUg

Most of the websites are now somewhat irrelevent because they all had clues linking to the next but the current one is a supposed interview process by the Joker, he started off getting people to dress up like him and get a photo infront of your city's most famous landmark, the best went through to the next stage which was a questionaire and if your questions were correct you entered your email address and he sends you stuff, also something about getting post in the mail from him too.

then this is the latest email:

Heads up, clown! Tomorrow means that there's one last shifty step left in the interview process:

Arwoeufgryo

Someone worked out that those letters at the bottom are a code. move your finger one key to the right of each of those letters and you get "steprightup" ... then someone applied that to the original website of whysoserious.com .. to make it http://www.whysoserious.com/steprightup/

and we have our next clue count down!

Hey, thanks for the heads up. I didn't know a Futurama movie was out. I'll have to rent it some time. A couple of years ago, I used to think that show was very funny.

I got some tickets from Safeway to view the Bee Movie before it came out on theaters. About half way through there was a 5.6 earthquake (yea, im from Cal), so the movie was canceled. Everybody still wanted to watch, but the guy in charge was having a panic attack...anyways, I only saw half of it, but it was pretty funny. He promised to mail us tickets, but apparent;y he lied.

Ya, the Batman movie should be good. I'm planning on seeing "I Am Legend" with Will Smith when it comes out soon. I'd also like to see "The Golden Compas" and "No Country for Old Men" but I'll probably have to rent them.

Just got back from the movie, I've read the books so I will try to make this fair.

I give it 4 out of 5 stars smile.gif

Pros:
Excellent "believable" acting on all main actors.
Fantastic special effects on the Daemons. They look totally real.
They don't tone down the situations, the war scenes actually look like they should!
Interesting plot, makes you REALLY want to see the sequel.

Cons:
Plot moves too fast for some who didn't read the book. May need to see it twice. Don't blink tongue.gif
May be violent for young kids, no sex whatsoever though. 9+ should be fine.
Lots of unanswered questions. The witches and Gyptians would confuse some.
Lack of the word, "Church" They caved to the christians and used "Magistarium" instead.
