Recently there have been threads addressing what music Live should put out and what they should offer. I recently went through the singles listed on the discography that was linked in the Mallrats topic:

I knew that they had different versions of singles out there, but I was not aware of the extent. There are tons of versions of Live songs found on singles, and other songs that they have covered. Many of the items on the singles are versions of other songs done in the past or on the same record.

It would be great to see Live offer something like a box set that had these recordings that can only be found on U.S. and foreign singles. I would love to hear all of the acoustic and live versions of songs that they have released on these singles.

I know some people may comment "buy the singles" but the problem is that there are so many singles (for example there are 8 versions of the "We Deal In Dreams" single alone) that not many people could afford to purcase each CD to get the entire collection. Many of these singles can't even be purchased in stores here in the U.S..

I also know that Live has done some cover work as a band. To my knowledge they've covered "Walk The Line", "Imagine", "Love My Way" and "All Along The Watchtower". Have they covered anything else?

It would be great for the fans of Live if they put all of this together (live versions, acoustic versions, radio edits, and cover songs) in a package to buy. I know I would pick it up.

It would cost them more money to develop and distribute that than they would get back in profit. I think the greatest hits album was a test to see what the market for Live is and it didnt do too well.

Greatest hits was just the cheapest way to close out Live's record deal with Geffen. It did very well overseas, not sure how it sold in the US.

It would cost too much to commercially release an album of that nature... now my idea of what they should do is a good one. They should offer their old stuff and singles on their website for a price and just produce however many are ordered. It would still be pricy on our aside (Do we care?), but I know I'd pay the price to get ahold of a cd or file download of the old stuff or singles.

Ya, they wouldn't even need to produce it. Just offer it as a download on their website store. That would be cost effective for them and great for the fans.
