Im rattled out of my brain trying to adjust to my new dexamphetamine prescription and have been browsing through the old-old live central forums, back from 03, for the last 5 hours and i found a thread about BOP when it was just released. thought it was funny considering how much that album is trashed nowdays.

is it just me, or was everyone really really nice to each other back then..??

http://www.fansoflive.com/cgi-bin/ib3/ikon...;f=1;t=652;st=0

anyhoo, im probably gonna be reading the old forums way into tomorrow because I CANT FUCKING GET TO SLEEP!!!!

Haha wow, indeed! How times change! Everyone was very enthousiastically when it was released.

Well I've gotta say I was too really blown away when I bought it back in 2003, and now I feel a bit more neutral about it. Still a great album, but I'm not that amazed about it as I was 4 years ago. I think when you search for one of the first threads about SFBM you will also find more positive comments than people will give now. It has maybe also to do with the excitement at the release.

But yeah everyone seemed indeed a lill'nicer to each other lol.gif
En yeah, BoP is still a great rock album. cool.gif

That was a really interesting thread. I really loved Birds of Pray when it was released and I still do. Songs from Black Mountain never really had a release date(most members of the board purchased it before June 6), so the sense of excitement that we had with Birds of Pray was lost. I can't wait for Live's next album.

This board is a bit nastier now. Yikes!

What a great thread. I remember those days clearly. Looking back through the thread, there are so many people I miss...Kirsten, Sam, the twins, Wendy... It really did show me how times change...not just with opinions, but with the fans themselves. I read my post and the good news is that I still feel the same way about Birds of Pray. I still love it. Runaway, Sweet Release, Like I Do, Everytime I See Your Face and Out to Dry are still my favorites.

Thanks for sharing that.

I'm still here... just don't post as often as I should, lol.

Looking back through that thread sure brings up happier times round here for sure though.

That was an interesting read. I've always thought Birds of Pray was a great album.

When BOP first came out I remember thinking that it might be the best Live album to date. I really enjoyed it the first time through. Usually albums grow on you the more you listen to it, but for some reason, the more I listened to BOP the less I started to like some of the songs.

I think it is a very solid album (one of their better one's) with a lot of good songs but it wore off for me for some reason.
