First off, I'm not trying to stir anything up here. However, I would be lieing if I didn't admit that I have been embarrassed by the band on more than one occasion -- and I assume that others have been, too, based on some of the comments on this board over the past few years. To be honest, Live has done some things that I would ridicule any other band for doing, so it's time to call them out for it.

So here it is...a poll to determine Live's weakest moment thus far. I tried to come up with the 5 that I have seen criticized most often here, although I don't necessarily agree with all of them.

Have fun!

My vote was an easy one...opening for Nickelback. Easy because Nickelback is easily the shittiest band in existence, and it was extremely humiliating for me to hear Live's name linked to them...especially as an OPENING act. Bleh, leaves a bad taste in my mouth even now. Fuck, I detest Nickelback.

The Runaway duet is my runner up...

I'm sorry, but lyrics for "Songs from Black Mountain" doesn't even belong on this list. This is just another jab at "The River", which happens to be a really good song.

Like I said, the list was based on what I have seen others on this board comment on over the past few years. I don't think the jabs have been exclusively at "The River"...I have seen lots of negative comments about the lyrics on "Home," "Sophia," and "Love Shines," to name a few others.

SFBM is the one I'm voting for. I mean think about it .. Run Away is just one song, American Idol was just one appearence, nobody cares about Nickelback so that doesn't count, and V I guess was just an experimentation.

SFBM was recorded over a 2 week period ... that's 2 whole weeks where one of them could have gone "whoa whoa whoa hang on here fellas .... this is crap" .. but none of them did. That's the most disappointing and embarrassing thing.

I haven’t réally been embarrassed by Live yet, so it’s pretty hard to pick one. I was pretty surprised hearing that Nickelback fact, I never knew they did an opening act for Nickelback. But even though that’s pretty lame, I don’t hate Nickelback at all so I don’t find it all that horrible.

I also agree the appearance on American Idol and the duet with Shelby Lynn are not the best moves Live everd made, but when I hear the songs I must admit they not all that bad. Also, like Pokey sayed, they are just one time things; one appearence and one song.

So I have to pick between the content and lyrics of V and Black Mountain. Now I like both albums, although I agree they are not as good als TC, MJ, SS and Distance. If I look at the content, I think V is worse than Songs from Black Mountain, the songs on Black Mountain are just better on the whole.

But looking at the lyrics and stuff, I have to say I’m going to pick Black Mountain. Just listen to the lyrics of Home, it’s stuff you heared a million times before. Also some of the other lyrics (“The future is now, the past is gone forever”) are just pretty lame is you ask me. Don’t get me wrong, I love Live and I love Songs from Black Mountain, but if I compare Mental Jewelry with Songs from Black Mountain .... Wow!

My vote goes to the lyrics/content on "Songs from Black Mountain"

WORD! I can't even put into words how much I DESPISE Nickelback... only to say I hate them more than Creed (but only because Creed have broken up).

Bear with me, this is a moment of deep pain and catharsis for me - the even more embarrassing thing for me is one of my other favourite bands of all time did EXACTLY the same thing. At least InMe had the excuse of being young and the opportunity of being an opening band for a UK stadium tour was probably a good move for them.

I wasn't really that embarrassed with the American Idol thing - I found it a rich vein of comedic opportunity (as anybody who saw my Dr Live and Mini Chris photoshop will know). Shelby Lynne - not that bothered as I've only seen it once. As for V vs SFBM, it all depends on wether whatthebloodyhell-ness or cheese-tasticness gets your goat the most. Both have the odd really good song, but my god, there's some trite cack on them too. That original video of Overcome with Ed looking like Richard Simmons and the waterfall effect were pretty buttock clenching for me, but then again, SFBM... "Think of gentle Jesus" *vomits*.

This is gonna stretch my memory back to school, but didn't Jesus open up a great big can of fuck off on some people in the temple? He went ape shit and started beating on people's stalls left right and centre .. doesn't sound too gentle.

Well that was a really tough poll. All of those things are embarrassing but I went with SFBM. The first time I heard The River on the radio it was at work with a good friend who had no idea who Live was. After the song was over and I was sitting there in stunned silence I finally had to say "yep that is the band that has been my favorite for over ten years."

I can excuse the Shelby Lynne thing although I think it sounded horrible, a lot bands do that sort of thing. I can also excuse the AI thing because what else were they suppossed to say when Chris Daughtry asked them to be on the show? "No, we're too cool for that?" The Nickelback thing is pretty inexcusable but I guess that was an attempt to get new fans. V is pretty embarrassing too but for some reason I've always been able to tolerate that cd more than SFBM.

For me the most embarrassing moment is not on the list. My most embarrassing moment is when Ed said in a late night show that he wrote Overcome a year ago ( the show was in 2001) when we all know (the fans at least) that it was written back in 1998 (or even before). I've always hated that moment. It's like if Ed wanted to take the opportunity to get popular again with the september 11th event. There was no place for a stupid lie there!
