If Live would ever do a cover song what would it be? Can be more than one.

Enjoy the Silence by Depeche Mode.

I hope this isn't already a topic elsewhere.

personally i think ED could do justice to any number of Led Zeppelin Songs, but my person al choice would have to be one or all of the following:

1. Dazed and Confuzed
2. Black Dog
3. Stairway to Heaven
4. Kashmeer
5. Whole lotta love

i think Live would do a good job of Stairway to Heaven but only if ed sings like he used to. Maybe its just me but his accent has changed a little since TC days. The way he sings All over you on TC somehow reminds me of Robert Plant's accent in stairway......anyone else agree?

I think Chad T did a great job on I Walk the Line so maybe they should try another Johnny Cash song. Personally I would love to hear the Live version of Ring of Fire.

I dont no if Ed and RP sound similar but if anyone was able to do the greatest song of all time justice it would be +LIVE+.

Hmmm,

Interesting question. Of course they could try to cover Prince. The skinny motherfucker from Minneapolis wrote many great songs, but also covered some nice ones. He playes Whole Lotta Love, various Jimi Hendrix songs (Voodoo Chile, Who Knows, Villanova Junction) and many more. Normally prince adds great guitar playing to these songs (eg. Just My Imagination of The Temptations).

I can imagine the a potential Prince cover for LIVE could be Empty Room (1985, guitar version released 2002) or maybe Zannalee (1993). of course there are more, but these are the first that come to mind.

I can imagine that most of you never heard of these.

have fun,
John

I think Live do some really good covers, they really haven't done a bad one .. and each sounding quite different to the original so they at least try and put their own spin on it. Supernatural, Love my way and Walk the line are all awesome.

Top 5?

1. Stumblin' by Powderfinger (I think Live could nail this and really rock it out on stage)
2. Black Dog by Led Zeppelin (this would be a test, can they make this sound anywhere near as good as LZ did)
3. Everyday is like Sunday by Morrissey (just cos I want to hear how they'd do it)
4. Who was in my room that night? by The Butthole Surfers (why not?)
5. The gentle art of making enemies by Faith no more (again, why not?)

I think Ring of Fire would be pretty good if Live sang it.

I'm also thinking something from Pearl Jam, not sure why. I think it would just be interesting to hear Ed's voice in place of Eddie's.

They're never going to top I Walk The Line for me.

Enjoy The Silence? Oooh no. I'd have to kneel on Ed's windpipe till he expired if he fucked it up. I love that song.

God, I don't know. Everything I'm thinking of is more obscure stuff like Sunday I'll be Gone by VAST, Distant Sun by Crowded House, Bliss by Muse or Cannonball by Damien Rice. I could hear Ed singing any of those.
