There are days that I don't like my job & complain that the pay is too little for the insane workflow on my desk. Then there are other days when I realize I only live 4 miles from the office and it's really not so bad. And I really have a crush on everyone I work with, so it's a fun atmosphere.

Then, there are days like today when I absolutely LOVE my job. I have a rep in Texas who is getting me free tickets for the show. And when I told my other rep at the sports station in Dallas, he offered to get me Cowboys tickets for free too! All I have to do is pack up my cowboy hat, my dusty cowboy boots & fly my ass down! YEE-HAW!

Well, I'm looking forward to meeting you! Since it's a Saturday show, I hope to be outside the theater at a reasonably early hour (3p? 4p?).

Okey dokey. The night started with Ed saying, "We burned out set lists ... we don't know what we're gonna play tonight." Everyone at that point, as you might imagine, flipped their shit & we knew we were in for a good time.

Nothing really was dramatically different, as far as the songs go, but I haven't seen them smile so much on stage in a LONG time. And I haven't seen Ed run around that much in a while too! I'd like to start by applauding the absence of Selling The Drama. THANK YOU!! I don't know what it is - the tempo of the song doesn't translate well from stage (for me, anyway). It's never memorable for me. Except back in 95 when they had the most literal light segments for Taylor's guitar part during the chorus. Feh. I was happy to realize that was gone.

They opened with Mystery, Love Shines was next ... the rest is a jumbled mess in my head but at one point the went fron Iris right into Simple Creed & I think I wet myself. That was sick!!!

First encore opened with The Dolphin's Cry.
Second encore was Overcome (Ed by himself, with the piano track playing), then WD. Ed went off on his little speech about the review saying they were obscure and Taylor knocked into one of the spot lights on the floor. Once he realized he could fuck with them, he knocked one down right infront of me, ran to the other side, knocked that one down, ran back infront of me & knocked the 2nd down, then went back to his mic in time for "LOOK WHERE ALL THIS TALKIN GOT US BABYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY". He looked like he was pissed but you know it was the music taking control of his body. Fucking awesome.

It was my 40th show - first time I caught a drumstick! yay!
After the big bow, Adam caught my eye & waved. A nano-second later, he gave me this confused look as if to say, "what the hell are you doing HERE?" haha so cool

There's no other way I could lose my voice & my hearing and be happy about it. I fucking love their shows.

Seriously, great review. Thanks. I'm looking forward to Baltimore!

I did see that thread, but I didn't believe that was actually the two of you dancing together. I guess I am just naturally a skeptic.

Awesome, wonderful, beautiful review!

Still, there is something quite sad about the fact that the show would start with the statement "We burned our set lists," yet the songs played would remain virtually unchanged. I mean, seriously, why would Ed even say that unless he/they were willing to play SOMETHING that they hadn't played during the previous tour?

Once, just once, I want to hear a Waterboy, or Negation, or Graze, or Dam at Otter Creek, or Brothers Unaware, or SOMETHING totally unexpected to be played. Damn it guys, don't lead us on unless you're going to put forth the effort to follow through!

While I was happy that they played a lot of new stuff on the last tour, I agree with you. Graze would be killer live, just as the others you mentioned would. Hell, if they played Pillar of Davidson or Gas Hed I would even be happy enough to run around naked. I really hope they keep the setlists changing, even if only a little bit.

Ed is an insincere moron. I don't trust or take anything seriously that comes out of his mouth.

Yes.

Also, every negative thing I've said about Graze in the past, I take it all back. That song fucking rocks.

First encore opened with The Dolphin's Cry.

Oh god - I think I'm lying. They came out & played Lakini's Juice first for the encore. I remember seeing Ruby Lou & an empty stage ...

And yea, I would have loved a more mixed collection of songs too, but at least they're acknowlegding the fact that they need to change something. And if that process starts with them burning their setlists, that's fine with me. Baby steps.

They conferenced between each song. It was so funny. At one point, my poor little Patrick made flappy arms to Ed (I guess he was suggesting they play Wings???) and Ed said no. awwwww my poor little Patrick.
