How many songs was Live rumored to have recorded for TDTH?

I was thinking about that today when I heard Barenaked Ladies are releasing 2 versions of their new album. The 13 song CD like normal... and a 29 track iTunes exclusive featuring all the outtakes.

Now that's pretty cool for the fans.

I would love for +LIVE+ to do something similar to what Pearl Jam did with LOST DOGS...

the B-Sides album is usually NOT for the fans, but rather to satisfy your contract with your existing label prior to re-signing elsewhere. I believe that is why Pearl Jam released Lost Dogs, otherwise it would never have been done.

As has been discussed, I believe Awake may have been released for the same reason.

Yeah thats similar to what Green Day did. They released a B-Sides and a Greatest Hits to get off their album then they signed a big deal and shit on their old label with a big album. I'd like to think thats what Live did, but there was no big album.

I'd buy all the albums again if they were released on iTunes with some added outtakes on each one.

Or, how about just waiting until Dan gets back to reality and releases the wealth of unreleased studio material he has.

I doubt we'll get one for TDTH if we didn't get one for Throwing Copper. Would definately be nice to have one though.

yeah, was more meant as a joke smile.gif but remember this:
bands that release a special edition of their album after some years almost do this with only 1 album
and knowing that it's Ed's favo album rockin.gif and by that: didn't the TDTH-era contain much more stuff to release than the TC-era (with it's only few unreleased tracks) ?

To answer your question, it was rumoured that the band recorded 37 studio songs for TDTH.

we have the 13 tracks that are on the album. we have 1 B-side (Vine Street). we have Don't Wait and Deeper. we have a quite different version of TSUFL which is labelled as 'TSUFL Ballad Version' and also an alternate version of RTTW featured on some promo CD. we have 3 or 4 alternate versions of the songs that are on TDTH (TSUFL, Meltdown, Sun...). it is also rumored that studio versions of both full band Overcome and Change exists. we have information about a bunch of songs that were played live in '98 like Still Aroused (Summer Sounds Fest. '98 tape), or some that were never taped/that didn't surface (New City, Wash The Blood Away). it's also possible that the Walk Into This Room duet w/Neneh Cherry can be added to the list of songs recorded during the TDTH studio sessions.

...and there are still 10 songs we don't know anything about (if we count the alternate versions of the songs - otherwise, there are even more songs we don't have!!!).
