Hey all,

I have been complying a list of concerts I have attended over the years. I attended a 9:30 Club show in Washington DC that I believe was announced at the last minute and not on the official tour schedule. Can anyone tell me the month /year of this show? It would be around 1998-1999 . I am under the impression that it was a post festival show

Thanks!

Janine

Nothing on setlist.fm for the 9:30 Club in 1998 or 1999.

https://www.setlist.fm/search?artist=13d6b9...e&venue=3d635a7

Can you remember anything about what was played? If it was 1998 then Live would have performed a bunch of unreleased tracks, if it was 1999 the setlist would have had TDTH tracks.

I've found a Billboard article (from 2001) that mentions a surprise show at the 9:30 Club.

QUOTE
"These guys were the real deal before the era of radio being about songs instead of being about bands," says promoter Seth Hurwitz, who owns Washington, D.C.'s 9:30 Club. Live played a surprise show at the venue May 27, following its appearance at modern rock outlet WHFS' annual summer concert, the HFStival.

The Billboard article is quite interesting actually. Live was on the front page and had a whole page article on page 89.

Here are details about Live's appearance at the 1999 HFStival

Thanks for the answers. I guess my years were off. It seems the 2001 show is it. I am just annoyed. That I cannot remember too much about this show when all their other shows are vivid in my head.

I was at that show! Sadly I don’t remember much about the setlist and I wouldn’t have known the date either if it weren’t for this thread. I do remember a lot of V songs were on the setlist and we got Herophyscodreamer. It was my first time being so close to the stage at one of their shows and that show blew my mind. Definitely one of my favorites from what I can remember.

Sadly if you look it up on the setlist site you can only find the the two HFSetival setlists. It’s like the 9:30 Club show never existed.

Speaking of Live shows in 1998, they did something similar when they came to Seattle that year to play Bumbershoot in that they played a "secret show" at a super hip club called the Crocodile Cafe the night before the main event, but there is proof it existed: Me lol

I found out when the DJ on the local alternative radio station was hinting about it, so I called them and they told me where to go. IIRC you had to win tickets, so I took a friend and we bribed our way in. Cash is king, after all.

I was front row center and it was one of the best shows (Live or otherwise) I've ever been to. Live was on fire that night and, as far as I was concerned, on top of the world.

CHECK OUT THIS SETLIST:

Where Fishes Go
Still Aroused
Selling The Drama
Sun
Sparkle
AOY
Overcome
Face and Ghost
TMH
Vine Street
New City
Meltdown
I Alone
Don't Wait

Encore:
LC
LJ
Change

They played the same set the next day at Bumbershoot and I have a setlist, so I have physical proof that these songs were played. What a great weekend of music.

A festival show and Live slays it by performing 17 songs with 11 being unreleased tracks wow.gif

Fast forward to 2019 Live plays a 12 track set at the same club that includes 2 covers. A headlining show - to be clear - with no opening act. Washington, DC (9:30 Club), September 16, 2019

OH. MY. GOD. You did see the best Līve show ever, Bob.
I’d be absolutely dead after that setlist.

saw a similar show at the stone pony in 1997 or 1998. they also played the alternative version (big band version) of tsufl that was awesome.
