New interview where Ed states that the band completed 6 songs in 2017 that will be on the new album. They plan to complete the rest this summer.

Haven’t a listened to this yet, but going to post my initial thoughts.
1) Perhaps the album will have the elusive 10,000 Cups.
2) Hopefully it drops late 2020. I’m beyond frustrated with their slow crawl of doing things.
3) But, I really, really need for this album to be good.

My guess would be, new single early 2021. New album May/June to go along with a big summer tour.

Hasn't Ed been saying this same shit about a half dozen songs ready for a record for the past year?

I really hope the songs weren’t recorded in the same vein as those on the LP. Also, those songs will be over 3 years old and included on a 2020/2021 album? That’s bizarre.

I'm optimistic hearing him say the songs and record are a separate idea from the EP. That gives me hope that they might yet have a cohesive vision for an album project. My chief complaint with the EP remains that it's disjointed and sounds lyrically rushed in places (and that I wanted a full record that didn't suffer from those problems, lol).

That's helpful, thanks!

Bizarre for other bands, but when it comes to Live, well, ya know. Ed is out of ideas, and so I can see them hanging onto songs.

Radiohead was prolific in like 1997-1999 and those tracks would surface over the following 10 years on albums.

Are you comparing modern Live to Radiohead during their prolific period?

Live has released 3 original songs in the last 14 years so then sitting on 7 completed songs isn’t due to having too many songs to release. If they had 7 more songs done 2+ years ago and they were really solid, then they should’ve released them by now. This is very different than the recording sessions for TDTH when Live just had too many great songs to include all of them on an album.

Maybe they want to wait until they have enough for a full length album. Maybe these songs are also written by Zak and they're waiting for Zak to get more inspiration.
