while not a big fan of Johhny Cash (he is amazing and has done much for music) LiVE's cover is amazing. Love the subtle interpretation and ed's voice appeals to me when it is in the lower range....not a big fan of the mystery~esque whine. IMHO, that is...

Blown away by this song at the recent shows I saw...

Loved the song on Awake, but geez...awesome

This is apparently a CT arrangement...go Chad!!!

I completely agree. I enjoyed the song on Awake, but wasn't blown away by it.

I saw it live for the first time at the L.A. show and it was one of the top 2 or 3 songs of the entire show. I was completely awestruck at how great a job Ed does of deepening his voice at the beginning of the song, and then the guitars kick in and the song kicks everything's ass.

I love Johnny Cash, but I honestly enjoy Live's version better. They make me believe that the song was MEANT to be a rock n roll song.

The video was cooler than the song itself.

Ooh yep.. love this song, and I really like Ed's voice in it.

When I heard Live's version for the first time, I realised that it was the song by Johnny Cash that was played A LOT in our house when I was a child, so that was a definite 'flashback' moment for me! I do like Live's version better though.

And another thing.. laugh.gif I remember when I saw the movie 'Walk The Line' about Johnny Cash, I couldn't help but hearing Ed's voice in my head, singing the song all the way through the movie..haha!

I LOVE this song.

I love how it shows off Ed's voice, particularly his range. The husky deepness he gets gives me lots of well...... blush.gif

I love how it's quiet, then LOUD like TBD cool.gif

Absolutely love this song, way more than the original. Loved it the first time I heard it, then saw it in NYC standing right in front of Chad-that did it for me. He kills it at the end. That is my favorite combination for LIVE, mellow in the start and then ripping at the end.

Way overrated. I don't like the original at all, and there are 10,000 songs I'd rather have heard Live cover. The arrangement, however, is an interesting interpretation of the original.

not a real big fan of covers. really don't understand why this was on awake. i would have much preferred an original song. i am really not crazy about live's version, but i do like it much better in concert. give me JC singing this any day.

I think it's quite a good cover, actually. It also rocks in concert.
