Heaven and turn my head solo electric guitar was quite nice actually. Chad's walk on didn't work so well with the second electric though.

I keep seeing all these reviews mentioning that Ed still has his voice. I think it sounds awful half the time, weak and off key. The Turn My Head chorus is brutal and I would walk out if somehow I ended up at a show.

I also think his on stage banter is insanely narcissistic and off putting. “It’s crazy times but my high school band is back together so I don’t care!” It’s no wonder that asshole won’t play any of the songs that would be particularly relevant today, and to be honest I’m glad he doesn’t so he doesn’t further tarnish my memories of those songs with his weak geriatric voice and rich white guy found Jesus musings.

What a fucking embarrassment. Live, shame on you.

What was going with the accoustic guitar (and even the second was rejected)?

Ed still sounds good in concert. On YouTube he sounds higher pitched/nasally. I don’t care anyway, because I don’t expect him to sound like 1997. Besides, Ed was never an exceptional singer, he is a good one. What he does have, are frontman skills. Great singers and great frontmen are two different things. Sometimes, both are rolled into one. Ed is (was) a better frontman than singer.

From a woman’s perspective... I fell in love with Ed, the balladeer in the 90’s. Ed is smart, well versed, eccentric, maniacal (crazy eyes!), and had swag. Because he’s eccentric, he -always- did things that were funny or cringeworthy, if you want to call it that. You don’t believe me? Watch some old live performance videos from the 90’s. Sometimes, I see or hear Ed, and he’s still got it. However, at one point, (honestly I think it was as early as The Distance To Here album), Ed -did- change. I don’t know if it was that he found God, got married, had a kid, stopped smoking weed... who knows. What I’m for sure of is, the best place for him is in Līve, appreciate that we have him. I was embarrassed when Gavin and Bush totally showed up Līve at the show I attended this summer. Gavin seemed more natural, and as if he enjoyed performing more. Maybe he’s just a better frontman, honestly I never paid attention before. Something is amiss, I can’t quite put my finger on it. We can’t blame Ed. It’s a band problem. It’s been a band problem since the reunion.

I think your crush on him impairs your ability to be objective. It’s a band problem but it’s mostly an Ed problem. Look at what they did with TGF and Live with Shinn sandwiched between SFBM and Local Area Code. Ed has totally lost it with respect to his songwriting, his voice and most of all his character. He really needs to just retire, go sit down with some kombucha at his local Whole Foods, and try to bend some strangers’ ears about how cool and famous he once was.
