Yesterday, I did a quick search of Spotify for "Throwing Copper" and came across a few podcasts where Throwing Copper was the topic of discussion. These podcasts run for 60+ minutes each. So far I've listened to 2 of them to completion and have just started the third.

The general gist of these podcasts is to review and discuss Live and Throwing Copper. They give the album a hard time but deep down they love it (or loved it).

First one is called "Shit songs off great albums" by The Golden Ducks. This is a recent podcast (from April 2019). It features an Aussie and a guy from the UK.

The second podcast is called "Albums are Dead". It's run by a couple of Canadians. They basically give a run down on the early history of Live and then discuss each track off the album by hitting up SongMeanings.com (and other lyric sites) and reading people's reviews. beau99 (a member of this site) gets one of his explanations read out.

The third postcast is called "The Throwback Podcast" and it run by a couple of high school friends in their late 30s. I've only just started this one so there's not much I can say about it.

Here's another podcast from early this week. Finest Worksongs. https://twitter.com/FinestWorksongs

Live - Throwing Copper
March 31, 2020

How does a band reach the pinnacle of both commercial and critical success, dominate the airwaves for a handful of years, only to disintegrate into the ether? That’s probably the question that has haunted the members of Līve for two decades now. The band’s second major album, “Throwing Copper,” was omnipresent on both pop and alternative radio. The video for “Lightning Crashes” was an MTV staple. And then? Poof! After some 8 million albums sold (and a couple of moderately successful follow-ups), they were seemingly gone from the radar. (It could have to do with the fact that in this Google/SEO world, the name “Līve” does not render easily on search engines. Shoulda thought that through, boys!) It’s a shame, really. “Throwing Copper” is everything good about quintessential 90s rock, highlighted by singer Ed Kowalczyk’s mystical/nebulous lyrics.

Sophomore Albums - Throwing Copper, Live - Second Best Sophomore Album of the 90's
The Wet Bandits Podcast

4 June 2019 - 73 min

Mike and Sam finish their discussion on the Christianity(?) of Creed, and follow that by covering Live's landmark second album, "Throwing Copper".

Mike geeks out over pretty much the entire thing.

Sam humors him (but seemingly agrees that the album is good).

If you've forgotten how good this album is, let this episode be a reminder to you.

This podcast isn't talking about Throwing Copper, however it is talking about Lightning Crashes.

Listen to the "Tell me all your thoughts on pod" podcast where every #1 track from the Modern Rock chart from 1994 onwards is discussed. This episode it's #freaks4live's Lightning Crashes.

Richard Wooten Podcast
Ep9: The Triumphs and Cringey Faceplants of Live pt1

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_YsAzUu7zw

QUOTE
Recorded 09/16/2021 with Robert Rabel

Live has made some of my favorite records of all time (throwing copper and distance to here). Their music is extremely important to me. They have also made some of the most confusing records, and some of the worst songs. At times their output has left me feeling confused and other times traumatized. In this episode we cover their first few records. I criticize Ed quite a bit but please know that I do genuinely love most of this band's music. Note: the audio cut out while we were recording so this one ends abruptly.

01:36 Norm McDonald, Neil Peart, and Celebrity death
29:19 Live general overview

01:12:27 What all good Live records have in common
01:13:40 Secret Samadhi (lots of Ed criticism in here)

Live is a great band
ep9 and ep11: Live writes amazing songs

Live writes terrible songs

A couple of YouTube videos about Throwing Copper

[Rock Talk With Mike]
The Huge Impact of The 1994 Album By The Band Live
QUOTE
11 May 2024 #Livetheband
In today's video, we're gonna discuss the band Live. They came out in the mid-1980s, and they jumped into a rock scene in the early 90s, which pretty much consisted of grunge bands that were taking over the world. So, the style of music that the band Live was playing didn't exactly fit that montra, but it didn't matter because what they did do In 1994 was completely come out with one of the greatest albums of 90s and they absolutely did their way in their style.
