If Epic was really smart... Options

they will have the duet Idol version of Mystery available at downloadable purchase sites (such as iTunes) immediately tomorrow. It should also be an "album only" download...which will force all the idol fans to buy the whole album. Also including a CD single with the retail purchase on June 6th, will send sales through the roof and open up awareness to the band. (Throwing Copper is in the top 80 and SFBM is now in top 10 on iTunes...and the show hasn't aired yet). I don't like Idol, and I don't think it will be that big of a help unless something like this sales strategy is implemented.

Sounds like a good idea but don't count on Epic doing it. If anything you'll be able to DL from AI. I'm sure AI has some kind of contract that won't allow something like that to happen.

They'll probably have a video up on americanidol.com. Thats all they can legally do. Idol isnt going to give up anything Chris Daughtry without hefty payment.

yeah, AI pretty much owns those 'idols' - I think it was Ace that wanted to sing for charity in his own town and they threatened to sue him or something over it

I still find it odd that they wpuld book Live for a duet with Chris, who has already been voted off the show. Why wouldn't they get an artist and do duets with the remaining contestants? I think that would probably make a little more sense, even though I would much rather see Chris and Live.

Also, I don't think that AI's contract whereby they "own" the contestants is a rarity in music. Every new artist is "owned" by the first label that signs them. In this instance its not a label per se, but its the same concept.

They are. The finalists will probably go towards the end. These contestants have huge followings thats why they'll all be back for the final.

They would never cut LIVE due to time contraints. The whole thing is a LIVE broadcast which has already been rehearsed, except for announcing the winners. You can also download the Idol performances on MySpace I believe.

if sony/epic & AI see $$$$, they probably will release a duet version. it's all about the $$$$$$$$$$$ w/these companies.

They havnt even had a song crack the top 100 today. Maybe Mystery can sneak on there.
