The intros to both songs sound very similar.

Do you think the Deftones were influenced by the Death of a Dictionary track or is it just a co-incidence?

I wouldn't rule out inspiration, but if I were a betting man I'd have to go with coincidence. White Pony came out in 2000, well after DOAD.

There's a similar sensibility, but you can only flesh out so many unique things under the sun before you run into something someone has seen or done before. Every note and chord, and probably even inflection in every song, has probably been played over the course of human history many times over in different forms or fashions. We're just recycling.

But that's just my limited opinion. To me it's proof that good music WILL see the light of day if good bands will create and release it. cool.gif

The deftones probably have better things to do than get inspiration from an obscure internet B side from a band that most consider a 1 album group.

Enigma's Return To Innocence was out in 1993, well after the immigrant Song by Led zep as well. Check out the drums in both of them.

Also most music that is ripped off, is ripped off from some obscure source. Usually I don't go for this type of thing, but wow there are many similarities in the two.

Didn't CT at one point say something about Miley Cyrus ripping off Heaven? I seem to remember that, but I'd like to compare the songs again, anyone remember the Cyrus song?

I just don't understand why the Deftones would rip off DOAD. It doesn't make any sense to me, especially considering how talented that band is. Knife Party just sounds like typical Deftones to me.

total coincidence...nothing more to say. Coldplay's song Viva la vida was a ripoff, but not this.

Ha, yeah it was! This would actually make a great topic for the off topic section: A discussion of song ripoffs.

+1 for total coincidence. While I love Live, I would never even compare Savior for a Day and Knife Party for a second. KP is one of my favorite Deftones song. such a killer track.

in similar news, I am REALLY exited for Koi No Yokan kicking.gif

Leather sounds good. Chino screaming = good. Chino whining = crap.
