The Ride, Curious on what you all think... Options

Is it me or has Ed completely become whoever he is talking to in The Ride? Or did I just completely misunderstand the song?

Is there a good version of it to listen to? I couldn't stand listening to that one posted few days back. How can you get any sense of the song from that?

I really like The Ride, again V for me is an album I have a lot of emotional attachment to so that helps its case. But the music and Ed's voice I think are fantastic. I dig the Indian/Eastern sounds from it and wished Live did more of that. But the lyrics are trash, and absolutely the lyrics have become extremely ironic "we've shown the whole wide world that money's all we care for now ..... how about a stick figure drawing for $8000??"

I agree. I dig the sitars in the outro to the song especially. I think the ride is a far far better song than out to dry. "Lay with me lady, you're drivin' me crazy, I promised you all my life" is pretty lame.

I never noticed it before but I think you are right pokey. The song has new meaning for me now.

i laughed the first time i heard "in the east" and then theres eastern music. Pretty lame. But i always crank it at 2:27 when that guitar riff comes in which i swear is exactly the same as "Believe"/ honest ,man

I don't think there is any particular person he's talking about in the song. I thought it was just a general song about spirituality and letting go of the material.

I dont think i listened to this track in over 10 years. The riffs are a similar progression, but not exactly the same. The ride's is faster... do do, do do, do do, do do do. Honest man is a bit slower and.. do, do do do, do, do do do

yeh there's a difference now that i hear them together, but i do think of those songs when i hear that riff in the ride.
