Ed Kowalczyk, legendary lead singer and songwriter of the multi-Platinum rock band Live, is launching an acoustic tour called “I ALONE” ACOUSTIC, a nod to one of one of Kowalczyk’s most famous lyrics in Annapolis at the Rams Head On Stage this Sunday. According to the Marketing Director for the venue, ticket sales are “very brisk and the show is on target sell out soon.”

This tour seems to be very successful for Ed! Awesome news.

Made the show and it was a good overall performance. Nice, small venue and crowd seemed to dig the show. Jen Lowe played the drums, no bass player.

I think Ed's support of World Vision is fantastic. It's like every time Ed tours he's helping to save lives. If that's not an incentive, I don't know what is!

I actually didn't assume it was on purpose. was it an admin post? I actually don't even care who posted. certainly possible the girl that took the picture didn't get it to Ed until today (she came out and took the pic right at the end of the show). he didn't say where the pic was. he just posted it saying he had a great weekend or whatever.

the last time I talked to Ed was 2 years ago at a Pittsburgh show, and he remembered me. I think that says something about him. I do believe he cheated CCP with the secret contract, and it's shitty that he bills himself as of Live. in fact, its illegal. he will be made to answer for it soon. he's absolutely not perfect and he's got a lot of reparations to make to his friends.
but he's not the devil Himself.

I know it's a little late, but I figured I'd chime in with my experiences over the weekend. I went to both shows, DC and Annapolis.

I've been to a bunch of Live shows, and more recently a bunch of Ed shows...and I can honestly say I have always enjoyed all of them. I know some people on here seem to think after the split, that you have to pick a side...either Ed or CCP. I understand this point of view if you have a personal tie to one side or the other, and in those cases I understand a lot of the frustration on the board. But I do enjoy coming on here to see what is going on with the guys in Live, and also with Ed...so I am glad that the board has stayed in the format that it has. I am also very appreciative of all that Dan has done for the board, and all of the contributions he has made.

I have never met any of the band members, nor have I gone out of my way to, or stand in line after the shows to meet them. Maybe this is why I feel like it is possible to enjoy both now...Ed and CCP. I loved all of Live's music, I enjoyed the Gracious Few, and now I enjoy Ed's music...but whatever happened between them happened, and I am fine moving on. Live is now CCCP and Ed has his own thing, I'm excited about both. I look forward to seeing Live in concert, when they do start playing again, and listening to their new music.

Ok, so that was a slightly off-topic lead-in...but here's my thoughts on the two shows.

The setlists were the exact same, which I mostly expected, but hoped for maybe one or two changes. I was disappointed, and didn't really understand why, we didn't get to see I'm The Proof or Rise...especially with the EP coming out next week. I wasn't that crazy about The Garden going into the show, but I thought it actually sounded really good acoustic...and I have a new appreciation for it now.

Pain Lies on the Riverside was probably the highlight of the two shows, I just thought it sounded a little different, and better than, his previous solo shows. Maybe it was having Jen there. All the other songs sounded good, and I do really enjoy seeing Ed acoustic. The Great Beyond was another song that I thought sounded much better acoustic...it was one of my least favorite songs on Alive.

If there was one song that I thought was a little bit of a let down, compared to his previous shows, it was definitely The Distance. I just thought his voice sounded way too strained on some of the lyrics, and I didn't like that second microphone on that song.

There was one cool thing at the Annapolis show. Some annoying guy in front of me kept calling for songs like Waitress, Supernatural, 10,000 years, etc. Thats fine, but after about 7 songs it gets annoying. But Ed did acknowledge him...Ed made a joke about not remembering the lyrics to Supernatural, but then did sing the first verse. Then he made a comment about not having played it since 1995 on Unplugged. I thought was kind of a cool moment, and cool of Ed to acknowledge the guy (even if it may have encouraged him to be more annoying).

All in all I really enjoyed the two shows, and I definitely look forward to seeing him again, probably at the Fairfield, CT show.
