I set up a new website devoted to Live. The pages on my site include:

Blog - I would like to write a well-written, insightful blog where I will analyze Live albums, songs, lyrics, concerts, Live history and other news.

Galleries - I have updated all of my Live photos into galleries and I hope to take many more concert photos in the future. I would also like to solicit photos from other concert photographers for the site. Jimmy - are you reading this? I sent you an email.

Fan Journal - Here is where you come in! I would like people to submit Fan Journal entires to the site by email. The Fan Journals should include things like thoughtful, well written journalistic pieces, recollections of Live experiences, insights and reflections, concert reviews, etc. Some of the best thoughts expressed by our message board members get lost over the years deep in the pages of this message board. I want those great thoughts memorialized in a Fan Journal where they can be found well into the future. Like a time capsule. There are so many people here with literally decades of knowledge and experience. Let's showcase that! And new fans who will hopefully discover Live in the future will get to read insights about the band that only hard core fans like those on this message board could possibly express.

News - I will try to keep a chronological news feed of all Live news on this page.

Twitter - I started the feed @livefanjournal on Twitter to promote Live and inform the Twitter community about Live. http://www.twitter.com/livefanjournal

Please participate and help me make the site worth-while. I hope it helps to promote Live. I hoe that it informs and entertains.

You should also start a FB fan page for it. I don't ever use Twitter, but I do use Facebook. You could connect the Twitter and FB page and any time you post an update on Twitter it posts an update to the Facebook page too.

Just a thought...

That is a very god idea indeed.

I am following the twitter page NOW.

The thing is that you will need a news alert each week or each time something new is posted, for the subscribers to receive a notification via email. Well, for me it is important

Nice work. That fan journal sounds like a plan smile.gif

I've added your site to the links at livefanclub.nl. As wannabe amateur concert photographer, I'll certainly try to take pictures when Live plays in The Netherlands.

Thank you everyone for your support of the idea. And you have given me some good ideas. I will try to set up an email subscribe button so that people can get notified when there are updates. And I will post updates on Twitter. I will look into the Facebook idea.

I keep thinking about the Fan Journal idea. I want to make it like a series of articles, like Rolling Stone articles. Like an online magazine about Live. Everyone here has a unique experience or insight or memory about the band. Have you ever wanted to be a journalist about your favorite band? Here are some examples:

Dancing Queen could write a Journal article on the Secret Samadhi cover art.

OutToDry could write about the importance of TGF in reviving CCP's passion for music and the quality and relevance of TGF.

Ed could write about the unique experience of being a Live fan in Russia.

Good Pain could write about his experience when he was 13 years old, seeing Live in the MJ era in a bar in Ohio.

Gertjan has a ton of experience as a leader of the Live fan community in the Netherlands. God knows what he could write about the Live Netherlands phenomenon.

I would like to see if Jimmy lang could write something about he discovered Live through Rush and his early days of creating and supporting the internet presence.

The Thrill could write whatever he wants.

Dan could write about what it is like to run the number one fan message board in the Live world.

I would love to eventually get an interview or rehearsal access for the blog and some decent photo access.

These are just some ideas off the top of my head. I know I missed some very important people in that list. I just wanted to throw out some ideas off the top of my head.

Fish, I usually fall all over everything you say but this time I disagree. There have been numerous sites that have tried to divide the fandom and I don't know that any have been successful. I recall TGF fans site, where freaks talk, some aussie site for live fans (southern stars), and then there are the ones I can't remember.

I personally like having this website be my hub for everything live. I would prefer if all those articles and photos be on this website.

where freaks talk,

Why do you insert Where Freaks Talk into this list? It was created 1 January 2001, there was nothing wrong with having a forum for the Dutch community, was there?

Was WFT a forum for the Dutch community? Before FOL i wanted to become a member of WFT too, but it seems there's no active member over there.

It seems Fish's website has a pretty different purpose from FansofLive, maybe Dan and Fish can work together to network the two sites? TGF had a distinct purpose too, but the site never really got going since TGF didn't separate themselves from a core group of fans (YET!)

WFT was golden in the early 2000s. Not sure it really fits this complaint. smile.gif

I know that some of what I am going to write in this message will be redundant, but I want to address some of the questions about why this site should exist. And I realize that I may have bit off more than I can chew. I just felt motivated to do something to promote Live and I am hoping that if LIve goes out on a tour again soon, I may have many more photos to share and I wanted to share them somewhere dedicated to Live. I taliked to Jimmy about maybe getting some of his photos on a site with mine, and then I ran off and put this thing together quickly.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for Dan and this site, and I do not want to compete in any way with this message board. And Dan does an excellent job of updating news and tour dates. I debated about whether to have a "News" page on that other site at all. Maybe I will eliminate that page and just funnel all news through the Twitter feed (which gets recorded on the blog page sidebar as well). And just like you, this message board is my main source for news and rumors.

I did want to do something different.

First of all - Photos. Thus far, I post my photos that I share here on FLickr so I can share them in this message board. I was also putting them on www.imagesbytodd.com. I wanted to do something dedicated just to Live. I am hopeful that I will get to shoot photos of a dozen new Live shows over the next two years and I wanted to put them on this site dedicated to Live. I would also like to post fan photos and hopefully I can get Jimmy Lang to share some of his stuff on there. And ideally, I might get a chance to go shoot a rehearsal or something like that to give fans a behind the scenes look.

Second - Fan Journal. I want that to be different than a message board. I want people to research a subject and write carefully about a facet of Live about which they have a unique perpestive. I want that to include lengthy concert reviews with pictures too. I hope there will be a relatively small, but useful series of articles or Journal Entries. Like an online series of magazine articles. I will introduce the Fan Journal Entries in the blog as well.

Third - Twiitter. I follow Live and its members through Google alerts, on Twitter, and through this message board. I don't think there is a Twitter feed that covers all things Live, other than the band's official Twitter feed, which on infrequently posts official things. Plus, I can regulalry post photos of Live over the Twitter feed.

Finally, a blog. As you know, I sometimes like to write lengthy tomes about Live on this message board. I wanted to create a place where I can do that in a more thoughtful way. I wanted to blog about a topic about which I am passoinate and somewhat of an amateur expert.
