Interest in Live Options

I personally feel a renewed sense of excitement that I haven't felt since the pre-V days. How about you guys?

Pretty overwhelming the support +LIVE+ is getting I've had so many friends of mine from the past hit me up on Facebook asking countless questions and wanting to know as much about Chris Shinn, TGF, and new +LIVE+ material. Right now there is a serious groundswell of support, glad many of us are at the forefront of this musical happening. Of course some of us never left as I know my support will always be there for them.

i guess you know, when a fair honest poll and those who like what they are hearing speak out and support it then it's ok...having an opinion not favoring it, but some opinions are simply stated to cause a rabble. Thats right some always supported, I made the mistake of not speaking up to this band earlier in the 2000's, and telling them to cut the deadweight (i got tired of waiting and hoping and my interest totally waned)....but they're all good men, they supported their brother unconditionally and all they got was bad news and betrayal. Doesn't matter all is good...the groundswell is good. People that have heard SHinn now are totally warming up to this. Ed has to be shaking in his shoes now....really....it's going to be like Maestro said. I wish Ed well, but he really needs to break course and do his own solo hits in majority and not use 80% Live songs at his shows. It's a contradiction to what he's on record stating time and time again. (and I am not the only one saying it). Let the fans be the true judge of what Live is all about.....it's not about individuals name. I'll miss what Live has way back in the day and I don't think if he came back it would be any better than it was in 2009. Many Ed fans at the Texas show came away impressed what Chris will bring to this chapter of Live....I for one hope it's a nice ride....so far so good. Do Not Feed the Trolls!!

Ed can continue to perform his LIVE songs solo, and do very well. He also doesn't need 5 members, a road crew, and a giant bus to get around.


From what I've heard of Shinn, he has a very average voice at best. There is nothing dynamic or different about him, and he has below average stage presence. CCP seem to realize that and have 5 backing musicians working hard to cover his weaknesses.
Some will accept him, but new LIVE ultimately will pale in comparison to what came before.

I did add my vote. I'm the 2nd one for "still on the fence." I need to see more of this Chris guy. And I need to see less of the drama that has followed this band for far too long.

Is the excitement back? For some, yes. But not just because there are no la la da das... Some are upset, and rightfully so, that new Live (so far) is just a re-do of their earlier years. Same with Ed for performing more old Live tunes than new music. Both Live AND Ed need new material to pick up the new fans. Their 1990's fan base is getting smaller, not larger.

Could some care less? Of course. Live has been a nostalgia act for longer than most of us care to admit. Doesnt make them any less awesome. The masses wrote off Live long ago. The few of us still here have not, and hold a decidedly different opinion.

The crack at Ed's voice in choice 2 is where most of us are just completely turned off.

I wish every one of them the best of luck and a long successful career. Ed, CCP, new Live members, all involved.

I am impressed at how it goes, same situation for me! I never really knew that THAT many people were THAT into Live in Russia and post CCCP (no pun gheghe) countries! OVERWHELMING!

You're nothing like Nick, you're giving your honest opinions on the music, you're not turning the whole thing into a shit storm because this is not financially benefiting Ed in the long run.

I understand what you mean about the way option 2 is worded, but the overall point of it is still the same I think, if you're steadfast in the camp of wanting Ed and no one else, then option 2 is for you and you just gotta ignore the bias of the poll creator (even if I personally agree with it ).

I understand people that are still on the fence, it is an adjustment to make to accept, some people for whatever reason can make it straight away, others might take some more time and evidence and they may think Shinn is the man in the end, or they may not. Some people might not be opposed to a new singer at all, but don't think that Shinn is the right one (probably should have been a poll option too).
At least people like that are giving it a chance though which is all you can ask for really.
