Some choice quotes in "White, Discussion"

Ed K: "This is usually like the part of the song where I pontificate on shit. Fortunately for you I don't have a damn thing to say. Except I can't wait for the war in Iraq to be over! I can't wait for my new album to come out: "Songs From Black Mountain" - March 21st. Maybe they'll happen on the same fuckin' day. That'll be cool. That's all the pontificating that I'm going to do. We love you guys - we love you very much. Turn it up Chad Gracey. Yeah!"

Ed K: "I'm sorry if I offended any closet Christians out there. I'm sorry. Is "Fuck" against the laws as far as God's concerned? I think we call got here because of "Fuck", man. I don't know what's wrong with it. I like life." (referring to Ed's excessive swearing)

Shit Towne:

Ed K: "What the fuck are you looking at?"

They also pull out Iris after an extended period of time off the setlist. Ed forgets most of the verses (Adam Kowalczyk helps out - but he also has problems with the lyrics.) Classic line from Ed: "I love this part". A bit of improv as well. Chad Taylor also does a bit of backing vocals (in the same style that Georgie Case sang "Aint No Use")

And that right there says all that needs to be said about Live back then. Straight from the horse's mouth.

Otherwise good quality boot!

Ed does refer to SFBM as "our" album at other times during the concert.

True, it could have been a slip of the tongue. But at the same time it could be a slip of the tongue as in saying what he really means? Either way, its not an untruthful comment really, just an interesting one.

You mentioned that Chad's song was a cover too, I didn't realise that. Any link to the original? Youtube brings up nothing ... except for some reason the top search result was 99 problems by Jay Z nervous.gif

Ain't No Use is a song that Chad performed under the moniker Georgie Case. I'm pretty sure you've heard it. You can stream it here: http://www.purevolume.com/georgiecaseandtheflatlanddrummers
Let me know if you want an MP3.

Yeah that's the song I meant, I thought you meant that Chad's song was a cover of a song by someone called Georgie Case.

I've heard this concert a few times over the past couple years and have two major takeaways:

-Ed was not in a good mood that night, and it translated really well into the music. 2005 was after Ed's voice changed, yet he still sang these songs seriously instead of smiley and happy. Even with Ed's current voice, I believe if he just sang angry and serious he'd be so much better.

-I'll preface this by saying I like SFBM (not nearly as much as the classics, but I like it). In my opinion SFBM songs performed live are so much better than they are on the album. I hate the way that album is mixed, but in a concert setting where you can really hear the drums and guitars those songs are much better.
