Lovely concert notice from IndyWeek about Ed's Raleigh show:

If you're feeling charitable, please consider this engagement with Ed Kowalczyk—the former frontman of Live, an act that somewhat successfully turned Kurt Cobain's legacy both overtly arty and commercial—Raleigh's official celebration of Nevermind's 20th anniversary. If you're feeling less charitable, though, this is an appearance by an exiled frontman of an occasionally interesting but mostly dismissible '90s rock act, attempting to remind those who remember "Lightning Crashes" that he released an abysmal solo record, predictably called Alive, just last year. Kowalczyk has had his moments during the last two decades; Alive, an attempt to cross over into rich Christian rock waters, isn't one. Namesake opens the $5 show at 6 p.m. —Grayson Currin

Nick usually goes and does massive background checks on people who give bad reviews to try and find reasons why their review is meaningless. I'm sure he's hard at work doing so now.

Brutal review, but honest.

The guy didn't even attend the show so you can't qualify that notice as a review. Calling LIVE "a dismissable act" shows he wasn't a fan of LIVE to begin with.

You don't think in the grand scheme of things that Live is mostly just a flash in the pan? They had their 15mins but for the wider public they're so far from a house hold name. I think you can still be a massive fan but looking at it from an outsiders perspective isn't hard to see why a lot of people see them as dismissable.

But wow, you of all people calling out someone for not being a fan of Live to begin with, now there is some irony for you from the guy who relegated 3/4 of Live as being no different to Ed's backing band since there were "no noticeable drop offs".

If LIVE are dismissable than so are 90 percent of artists.

And you already dismissing the new Live proves the same about you.

You were never a Live fan. You are and always were just an Ed fan. The guy that wrote that article is 100 times more of a Live fan than you ever were.

It is people like you that grovel at the feet of a guy like Ed and tell him how great he is. Sadly, Ed started to believe it.

Wow - that's a scorcher.

I'd have to state there is a personal bias in that "concert notice".

BTW Nick - you haven't heard the new Live album, so stop trying to spit on it.
