Would TGF fans be interested in 24bit (high definition) versions of the songs? I see so many fans asking for hard copies and I'm assuming this is for quality purposes. CD's are only 16bit. This is something we could offer if the demand were there -- CT

Are there any audiophiles here who would be keen on hearing higher quality versions?

Why certainly. Got to gauge the market for such things.

CD's sound fine to me. I guess I'd have to actually listen to the difference first.

I'm not sure how much it matters, honestly. There would be a quality difference for sure, but the album is heavily compressed so it won't be better by leaps and bounds.

Now, if they would sell the 24 bit pre-mastering mixes, I am all there. I prefer the earlier board mix of Appetite to the final product and would love to hear the rest in the same fashion.

I still need to actually listen to the vinyl and see how it came out.

Considering most people listen to music via MP3, I don't think there's going to be a big demand for 24 bit recordings. It's probably a waste of time releasing these files considering the size of the band's fanbase.

If there are even 100 people who want them, there is minimal cost to uploading 24 bit files and selling them digitally through the website. That's a grand easily. That's how bands these days make enough money to function.

Speaking of selling the record on their website.....anyone realize that tracklist was different than the released CD and itunes, amazon digital versions?

exactly. You can make it 24, 48, 96 bits....garbage in, garbage out. I'll take a non-compressed redbook 16/44.1 CD over a 24 bit compressed mess.

Again, TGF's album doesn't sound terrible, but it could sound so much better. One day bands will learn about ReplayGain and how their albums sound like shit when the volumes are leveled.

Until most people realize it and care (and they won't), we will continue to get the compressed crap that we have been suffering through for almost 20 years.

I'd rather B-Sides get released than a better quality verison of already CD quality songs.
