I'm not sure if this is in general circulation but I found this track listed as 'filler' on a bootleg.

It appears to be a soundboard recording of Cheetah from August 13, 1995 Mountain View, CA at the Shoreline Amphitheater.

Has there ever been confirmation on a studio version of change?

Yes, it exists if you read the context of CT's reply to the FANSOL letter.

Thanks for that Dan! thumbsup.gif Had no idea such a good quality live recording existed of Cheetah. Don't suppose there are any other soundboard tracks from that show?

Does anyone know the full story behind the 'studio' version of Cheetah in circulation? I think I remember something about Ed doing a spot on radio during the recording of SS and bringing it in as a preview, like he did with Like I Do and WAWFF before the release of BOP...

After listening to this, I wondering if I've heard it before?

I'm not sure, that's all I've got in FLAC format.

It's likely you have. An mp3 version of this track has been around for a while.

Some great call ins happened after it was previewed. One guy said he didn't really like Live before but if the rest of the album sounded like Like I Do then he would definitely buy it. Ed said "it only gets better". Poor dude may have gone out and bought the album only to find he was a little mislead.
Another said they hadn't been that excited for a new album since the Black album by Metalica. To be fair, I was pissing my pants with excitement for BOP too because I wasn't so cynical
On Live back then. I held off till release say to listen to the bulk of the album so it's only really a funny statement by that guy now in hindsight. Although honestly gun to my head I'd rather listen to BOP over any Metalica album.

Chris from the "WhereFishesGo" website was the fan who brought Cheetah into general circulation. Here is his explanation on how it was obtained:

QUOTE
Don't Wait was from an advance cassette copy of 'The Distance To Here' that someone I know found at a flea market in Pennsylvania. Cheetah was from a radio premiere on a station in Washington DC of 'Secret Samadhi' that someone recorded onto cassette. Why was Cheetah on that premiere? I don't know and I never did find out. I assumed that it was taken off of SS at the last minute because it didn't fit with the rest of the album.
