It's not super uncommon, can't think of too many that spring to mind but I have seen it. I know my man Morrissey had a 6 night residency somewhere a few years back. Nick Cave and the Pixies both did 5 nights back to back in Melbourne a few years back. Not many do it though, if they have a long residency you usually find they do the whole 2 nights on 1 night off 2 nights on thing.

Residency's are an exception. If you're playing multiple shows at the same venue then you don't have the stress of long distance travel, checking in/out of hotels, setting up stage/equipment etc.

Short review:

Great show in Connecticut last night. Packed and enthusiastic house. I missed Leigh Nash, and only caught the end of Emerson Hart. Ed performed for about a hour and was awesome(sans Jen Lowe).
