Ed performed I Alone, Grace, Drink and Lightening Crashes on 104.5 FM in Philly today. Here is link to the site:

FM 104.5 Studio Performance

Grace sounded amazing. Lightening Crashes was what it has always been at its best.

He was wearing some geeky glasses, a nerdy v-neck sweater with a tie, and a cap on his head. He kind of looked like the geeky Ed from high school. I've seen Ed look grunge, and of course look very cool. But I haven't seen him go for the intentionally ugly-down look before. I wish I was good looking enough to be able to go for that look on purpose.

I'm really looking forward to seeing Ed Saturday night. I will have photos to share.

I love Ed's voice. As long as he is singing, I'll be listening.

Thanks for the link........

Grace was outstanding. Drink a close second, maybe a tie.... smile.gif

I agree with Nick in that maybe Ed should focus more on his acoustic shows.

One of the better live sets on a radio set that I've seen/heard. His vocals were right on today.

Like you, Fish, it'd be hard not to want to listen when he sings like that.... rockin.gif

You thought that was his "ugly-down look"?!! I liked that look. Sexy, if anything. You do realize, don't you, that statistics indicate that most girls would rather marry the geeky-nerd over the cool jock. The cool jock is the guy to have fun with during high school/college, but most think the geeky-nerd is the guy who is going to take care of them and get the gigs that make the $$$$$ ..... kicking.gif

Is it just me or does Ed look like the dad out of American Pie in this performance?

His voice sounds great. But the look? Oh, man, it is obviously a very different look for him. I'm curious if he feels it's a better fit for him in the Christian music market. It reminds me of how Ryan on "The Office" started dressing like a preppy out of nowhere. You then see he's trying to change his image to fit into the new life he's trying to create for himself as a geeky but brilliant internet entrepeneur (save the fact that he's not actually made a dime).

When I heard that Ed was doing a solo album initially I visualized something like this....stripped down music with powerful vox (for aussies think Bernard Fanning's Solo CD); just something different especially after seeing him in Brisbane last year play so well acoustically.

Part of me I guess expected the Daughtry-esque cd we got and I kinda like it a little but I wonder seeing how good Ed is this way what might've been with an acoustic cd...songs like FOTM and Zion wouldve sounded pretty good.

thoughts?

I really like Daughtry's first album and think it's much more rock music than Ed's album. I don't care for Daughtry's second album, and can see more of a comparison there.

I think Ed would do well with acoustic music. He has the voice for it and he has the charisma to carry off a show with just him and a guitar.
