I was listening to TGF this morning and my opinion is that there is not a bad song on the cd and I want to hear all of them in concert. I even fell in love with Sing, which I didn't enjoy at first. They have 13 great songs. Why do they need to play Candlebox or Live songs in concert? There is no need for that. I think they just need to play TGF. What do you think?

I like the idea of them playing one by each band but no more than that. I want to hear every TGF song live too! But it is also a treat to see Taylor whip out Ruby Lou and stomp to Lakini's Juice and I've always liked Candlebox so seeing Kevin sing one of those song is cool too. I also think it would be interesting to see how they change the songs up.

13 tracks is not enough. Even if they add some extra jams, the concert will still be too short.

So, that leaves the band with two options.

1. Play some unreleased TGF material
2. Play some covers

Option A might be good later in the tour when fans become more familiar with the album but I don't think it is a good idea to start the tour out playing unreleased material.

Option B is something that will most likely occur. If their choice of covers include Live and Candlebox songs then I am fine with that as long as it is kept to a minimum.

I think the question is more "will I enjoy it" than "should they do it." The band can really do whatever the hell it wants and I'm not going to say they shouldn't do something.

I wouldn't mind hearing a song by each as long as they change them up a lot, and that goes for both bands. Of the two they've done Far Behind was better because they changed it up a lot (even though I still wasn't too excited about it).

I would much prefer to hear a set with unreleased TGF material, an instrumental jam, and a nice cover of someone else though.

As for response to the unreleased material, during the early shows the crowd seemed to be into the new TGF songs whether they knew them or not. I know that can be a problem for more established bands, but there is enough excitement around this new material that I think they could pull it off. I imagine most of the attendees will already be huge fans of the band, not just casual fans.

I'd prefer they leave them off the set, if they must, play one from each band and play all 13 tracks of tgf and sprinkle 2-3 covers in to make a nice 1:45 min concert

If they have to play anything other than TGF - I would much rather hear Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith covers than live and Candlebox. Can you imagine if they started playing Dream On or Nobody's Fault But Mine in the middle of a TGF set?!?! That would be awesome.

I voted No also - I'd prefer the non-Live/CB covers that you guys have put up. Live songs don't really fit the same mood/tone/feel as TGF, so would prefer to hear some great classic rock songs that they can borrow and make their own. While a "new" TGF fan might enjoy a Live song, I've seen and heard them performed too many times with Ed that it would just seem like a cheap imitation of the real thing. But if they tore into some Zepplin ... that would be something special. rockin.gif

I'm with OTD. One song from each band and the rest pure TGF with a few covers.

I'd prefer that they do covers of some classic rock songs, not of Live or Candlebox material.

I am firmly in the "No" camp. I agree that they do need to do some covers in order to fill up the set list, unless they plan on playing some unreleased stuff. However, I don't want to hear any Live or Candlebox stuff. Hearing them at Fat Daddy's was fine as a way of introducing who they were and where they came from. But we're past that now.

What I'd really like to hear is them do covers from bands they have openly admitted influenced them. Give me a Zepplin cover. Hell, I'd be curious to see what kind of Pink Floyd tune they could come up with to cover. Just please, no more Candlebox or Live covers.

Hi gang.

New member who definitely votes NO on playing Live or Candlebox songs. It just wouldn't seem right. What I loved about Lakini's Juice other than the song itself was Chad and Ed's interplay at the end of the song where they used to do the simultaneous stomp/hop. It was a signature at the Live shows that was all their own. As has been recommended already, I'd like to see TGF pay homage to their own heroes/icons/influences with some kickass covers or introduce us to some new material that they've been working on.

Later,

Indy

I voted yes, but I like the idea of no more than 2 Live songs. I don't know Candlebox's music (but that's gonna change!) but I'd have no problem with a cover of theirs, too.

I also don't have a problem with Ed playing a Live song or two, but from his set list it looks like half his set is Live stuff. That rubs me all sorts of the wrong way.
