I can't watch this at work right now, but I noticed there was an interview uploaded on Youtube today with Ed. I have no idea what is talked about, but I'm assuming it was a recent one and has not been posted. If it has, feel free to delete this thread.

I figure the other threads are getting big, so we can start another argument in this one lol.gif

Nothing too new here, apparently Ramy "blew his mind" with how amazing his drumming was which blows my mind that he can think this after working with Gracey.

lol so when asked the difference between writing this record compared to Live he said that the difference is when he brought the songs to the studio this time it was interesting to see what the band would do with them. I know he probably means what the band would do with them compared to what Live would, but it also sounds like he's admitting that when he brought the songs to Live that they were then not allowed to be touched by the rest of the band kicking.gif

He also keeps calling it rock and roll eh.gif

The fact that he keeps saying how he needed to spread his wings from Live and do things his way completely contradicts all the writing credits on the last few albums which tie in which his ultimatum. To me it just reeks of his was sick of the fights in the band that probably arose when people wanted to do something different to what he wanted. Easy solution is start a new band with session musos that you didn't grow up with and don't have to feel guilty going "I'm the star, it's all about me, I'm gonna write it all and have things my way".

It's interesting to hear him say that fans have been telling him "wow you've got that spark back, you've got it back!" because to me that's the exact line that would fit the TGF boys the best

haha he's also completely lost for words when asked about TGF. He can't even say their name, there's no way he's that ignorant about them. For all the pot shots TGF have taken they can still mention Ed in interviews and say he has an album coming out and such.

If he really thinks that his band is that awesome then he has completely lost it.

It's amazing to watch the TGF cult members (I mean fans....) race to be the first to crap on anything Ed says or does.

Ed is who he is. He's not gonna talk about TGF. I haven't heard them talk about him either, just the e-mails from friendsoflive that mention both bands.

I'm dissapointed in the way Ed has handled things with LIVE, I wish he would have done a side project (like someone else said in another thread) and gotten some of his powertrip out of his system that way so we could have the old, collaborative best band on the planet LIVE back but it didn't happen that way. I hope sometime in the future, there will be a genuine reconciliation between Ed and Chad, Chad and Pat. I really don't want LIVE to be over.

All that being said, I can still enjoy some of Ed's new stuff. I like what I have heard from TGF a little better but I will support both.

I don't get the bitterness that a lot of you have.

If Ed said something cool or interesting in the interview I'd not crap on it, but he's not, he's just making himself look a dick to those people who are more well informed. I'm waiting for some interviewer to not hold back and keep pressing him.

TGF on radio also gave a little shout out about Ed, not just in the email.

I'm sorry but what about any of this thread is bitter? Pokey is discussing Ed's responses that he finds to be interesting in light of what we know about the demise of Live. The part of your response that I bolded is just as "bitter" as his response.

I merely pointed out that his band isn't nearly as awesome as Ed seems to think they are, being mid-level studio musicians and all.

Seriously, if you can't see the bitterness from both sides your blind. Nick has just as much of a strange bent against TGF as most of the guys do against Ed but he's outnumbered so badly the TGF bias is a lot more prevalent.

The part of my quote you bolded might be considered bitter if the rest of the post wasn't included. Geez, and you guys jump on Nick for cherrypicking parts of posts.

I hold back on a lot of the things I think about both Ed and TGF because I understand that everyone has their opinions. There is no use in trying to convince people to see it the exact way you do and there is certainly no reason to bully people (especially people that help run the freaking board) like a lot of ya'll do.

I've seen people tell Nick he should stay off of the TGF threads since he obviously doesn't like them and yet all the Ed threads are filled with TGF fans bashing Ed. More than a little hypocritical.

Seriously, why the need to rehash the same old arguments in every thread? If some people like Ed's new music it doesn't make them less of a LIVE fan than anyone else.

I think Nick is usually out numbered because his argument is flawed and more people just seem to think he's wrong.

I personally don't really care or want Nick to stay away from the TGF forums so long as he doesn't make ridiculous statements. I think a lot of the shots at Ed are based on something, Nick just comes across as picking on TGF stuff just because ... well, I don't know. I have no problem with Nick not liking TGF's music, that's cool. I just don't get what his problem is beyond that. He can't seem to form a proper argument, they have more holes in it than the bible.

The same old arguments are going to pop up when new things like this video pop up which prompt the same old arguments.

There is bitterness on both sides, but where the hell is it on this thread? Why are you pulling crap from other threads into this one? That's all I wanted to know.

It seems like the only one trying to pick a fight on this thread is you!

Nick is also fond of making outlandish statements and then cherry-picking what he chooses to respond to when called out on it.

For the record, I believe I was the first to mention I wished Ed had done a side-project instead of doing it the way he did. Though, I see nothing in the rest of your post that removes the bitterness inherent in the use of the word "powertrip". Or should he have included the part where you called us the "TGF cult members". Bitterness towards both sides of an argument is still bitterness.

QUOTE

Why hold back? You're allowed to have an opinion. Regardless of what the statistics in terms of how many are either side of the argument, this isn't groupthink. Having an opinion is worth something even if you can never win others to your point of view. Giving up on the opportunity to possibly win someone over to your way of thinking is worth less than nothing.

QUOTE

That's because Nick was never inclined to give TGF a chance at all. Here's what you seem to be missing. TGF members, even if they hate Ed personally for what he did, still recognize Ed for having been a vital cog in the band. You can see it every time someone posts about old shows, wistfully wishing he could still sing and write lyrics like he used to do.

Nick, on the other hand, has never shown any inclination to admit that anyone but Ed was responsible for Live's success. It's Nick's sycophantic ramblings regarding Ed's greatness, combined with what is known about the "last days" of Live, that bring out the vehemence of the response against him.

QUOTE

People are free to like Ed's new music. Hell, when all is said and done, I may be one of them. I have yet to hear anyone tell someone they're not allowed to like Ed's new music or they'd have to turn in their Live fan credentials. If someone told me that, I'd tell them where to go shove it.

Pokey,

I don't think the video prompts anything. It's more of the same from Ed. We've heard all the arguments on why it is bs (a lot of which I agree with) it just seems like the TGF camp has to make sure that their point of view on Ed is heard over and over and over and over. It's monotonous. (I have no idea how to spell that word and probably failed miserably on that attempt.) =)

More holes in it than the Bible..................ugh, another form of board bullying I'm against. (The instance you used wasn't bullying of course.)
