I've been searching for public notes on what may be happening in the courtroom, here's one of them. I suspect the selling of bootlegs on Ed's website are not legal as they appear.

You can sue someone for just about anything in the USA, right?

But it looks like Ed has been a bad boy.

I am looking for this on the NYS Court system website but no luck yet, so this is coming from a court news website and we can take it with a grain of salt for now.

I'm sure this will start another on of those finger-pointing threads... but seriously, just because you are ACCUSED of somehting does not mean you are actually guilty. Let the parties involved fight these battles (band members, lawyers, etc).

Meanwhile, we the fans have some great music to look forward to!

J

Unless I'm missing something, I have a hard time believing Ed sold $225,000 worth of bootlegs on his website.

I don't think he sold that much. What it probably comes down to is some of the bootlegs included songs that all wrote from the first four albums which means the the Chads and Pat are entitled to royalties.

I'm guessing the amount they are suing for includes missed royalties and damages.

Go to http://iapps.courts.state.ny.us/iscroll/index.jsp and do a Case Information Search for "kowalcyzk" as defendant, or "taylor" as plantiff.... you can locate the entire complaint file there (PDF). I'd upload it, but don't know how... assume since its public record there is no harm in posting ?

Thanks! Although, I haven't finished reading it, it looks like this has to do with the "secret agreement" and the bootlegs.

Read the complaint - the math works. 30% of 1,000,000 minus what was paid. The $1M was an advance, not based on actual sales. (If actually based on SFBM sales, it would probably be more like $2.25)

Well, its all out there now, at least on the part of the Chads and Pat.

It will be interesting to see how this turns out!

I guess it is too much for you to actually find and read the court document?

Yep, it will be interesting. I hope it's on CourtTV lol.gif

Does anyone know if Ed's response to the complaint is public record also?
