Sittin on the beach.... well pretty close to it. sittin on a balcony at the Gold Coast actually. Thought I'd listen to sparkle on the Ipod and ended up listening to the whole album. Which got me to thinking - this is an awesome recording. This is the band at its best. Well written, well produced. The drumming wants me to take up drumming and Chad Taylor makes me want to take up guitar. Spose I'm going on - a bit influenced by alcohol right now but what if all of this energy had of been put in to SFBM? Like a lot of people I couldn't really get into SFBM. Somehow I wished they would have spent more than two weeks making this album. I know Ed was proud of this fact but in the end ther lack of attention to detail showed in the result. Anyway, back to THTH, still love it, still enjoy it, still waiting for something just as good to come along..........

they recorded throwing copper in a similar amount of time as sfbm so i doubt that has much to do with it. i think with sfbm ed was maybe trying to start at the beginning by recapturing the sound of doad, poppy influences and a restrained guitar sound which is a good enough idea if the material was inspired, which i guess it kinda wasnt.

but anyway yes tdth very nice album!

Bang on Hobbsy! TDTH for me is a rather unique record. I don't have any other records like it

To the adolescent US fan, TDTH was a step in a softer, more overproduced, lighter, less rocking, and therefore less appealing direction in many ways from their prior records.

I bet to the mature and international fans, it was probably appealing from the get go.

And because of the albums that followed, I'm sure TDTH grew on many fans.

In any case, its a masterpiece whose Bsides suggest that the whole tdth session was totally inspired.

Oh man... I can remember the dissapointment that a lot of fans were expressing when tdth hit the shelves. Was a major turn around from SS and all.... the total demise of Live as a band was dawning (according to a couple of fans back in the days).

For the long time I have been following this band (close to 20 years) there has been panic with every album released. For some reason tdth stuck on me from the get go. Don't know why and I never questioned it.

First time my daughter (now close to 13, then she was 1,5 yo) heard the dolphin's cry, she was dancing around the room in a pair of diapers, hilarious.

Sad thing for her is that from that moment on I always told her she could tag along to a livegig when she turned 13 (and man..they came close). For her it means tdth is the album she hangs on to as her fav.

I can see how some would've been disappointed with the change in direction from SS to TDTH, but there's no getting away from the fact that TDTH is an incredible album. For me, possibly their artistic best.

In some ways it was disappointing because I thought that if they carried on in a more SS style with the next album it could have just been mind blowing. As far as styles, vibes and tones and such go, SS was the peak of Live for me. I guess it's in my nature to prefer music with a darker twist to it. However, TDTH was just done so well that it didn't disappoint. It's the perfect example of music being positive and uplifting whilst not crossing into cheesey lame territory which SFBM did.

And I think people kinda expected a more dark album then TDTH became in the end, because of all the new songs that were played between 1997-1999 (most of them didnt end up on TDTH), Don't Wait, Vine Street, Change, Still Aroused, New City, etc.

There are songs on TDTH that should have been promoted more........FTQRR, Meltdown & WWITD. Those are rockers and shakers. Record is vey good. But it cemented the starting point and change in musical direction (song selection).

I know that TDTH is a departure of sorts, but WFG is one of my top songs from the boys. It is still a song that I find myself playing on a regular basis. I am a long time follower of LIVE, but to me this album was no "single of the end," like so many have eluded to. Sure TDTH is a big change from SS, but not so harsh that it threw them into the throngs of pure pop.

When they started that tour, they guys simply jammed for a min or two prior to 'ahem' coming on stage.
