Hey all!

I am thrilled to announce that the official Ed Kowalczyk -FULL BAND- lineup is confirmed! It is as follows:

Ramy Antoun - Drums
Chris Heerlein - Bass
Adam Kowalczyk - Rhythm Guitar/Background Vocals
James Gabbie - Lead Guitar

(PS-if you've become a member of the EKL Fanclub or have otherwise heard/seen the slideshow video for "ZION", then you've already heard my boys rock it cuz this is the band that KICKED ASS on my album last fall in Austin!)

I will post more on each dude soon and will keep you posted as always on tour dates as they come together. GET READY!

peace, single origin espresso, and love to you

Quick research on these names wields the following basic info, if I've found the right guys.

Ramy Antoun - Remo sponsors him.. he plays with Seal and a band called 'Goldspot' (From LA) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...riendid=7522649
Chris Heerlein - plays with a band called Wideawake (From Austin) http://www.myspace.com/wideawake
James Gabbie - plays in a band called Ethos (From Austin) http://www.myspace.com/austinethos

hmm, so, in fact Ed has just continued with what he has done past few years, but only replaced his original bandmates (who dont want to work with him anymore), and in fact just made a new band? Hm, okay... I would never ever believed you if you would have told me this exacttly a year ago, when LIVE was rocking out with their new/fresh setlist including Gas Hed,Hold Me Up, Purifier, etc. In fact, I still don't believe you if you would tell me RIGHT NOW. huh.gif

Ed has been writing Live's material for the past few albums. As I said earlier if you want to hear the next Live album buy Ed's album, if you want to hear what the rest of the band has wanted to do buy TGF.

If you love music buy both!

I know Austinite James Gabbie and he is a truly gifted musician. He is better known for being in GoldSpot (Featuring Siddhartha Khosla, Ramy Antoun, Sergio Andrade, James Gabbie, and Jake Owen): http://www.goldspot.net/fr_index.cfm

Chris Heerlein is in an Austin-based band called WideAwake, which I posted about last year. This youtube video of Ed is with Chris' band when they played at La Zona Rosa last September (during the time that Ed was in Austin recording). Chris is the person introducing Ed in the video.

I do wish James and Chris the best in their new venture, but most likely will not ever see them in concert (unless they are playing with WideAwake). That is my 2¢ only and my choice not to support Ed K.

Adam posted this on twitter today:

adamkowalczyk down to business...learning new Rock songs!

I can't wait for this new band to start touring! Ed is surrounding himself with some talented musicians and I think the music is going to be great!

I agree that Ed's album will be what the next album was to become. Nice to see Adam in his band too. The business move to add Adam to Live's touring regimine was a wise one as it allowed Adam to learn all the Live songs so when Ed decided to do what he did, he's be able to seamlessly move into being solo with folks who can play the Live songs. The secret recording contract cements in my mind the backhanded move to stab the other guys and for Ed to try to finalize to things his way. The fact that the rest of the band was basically rendered mute to Ed's wishes to continue the band.....was to play out for only so long. I've been in the notion for over 10 years that Ed would splinter the band with some action....when I came to read what's happened in the past year.........sad but oh so true. IT all fits, some will argue the point but.......frontmen and egos have a large historical track record with these things.

I'll buy both records, but I will be very partial to a certain 'few'.

Adam seems a bit bitter to the actions of The Gracious Few. Check out some of his twitter comments and you can see what I mean. Maybe there is more to the story than TGF are letting on.

I do know that TGF didn't attend Adam's wedding, which I found extremely odd after working 10 years with the guy. There seems to be bad feelings all around.

Care to write them here? His Adam & the Weight page is no longer avail it seems.

Hence this may be another festering wound I believe....when Ed & the guys added Adam so Ed could 'focus' on singing........I accepted it at the time as a nice gesture.

Yes, because we know all of the facts about this "secret recording contract." What I heard was that Ed was getting all of the royalties from the publishing rights for the songs he wrote for the last few albums. You know, those last couple of albums that most people around here hate anyway? He did the writing -- which everyone is happy to point out if they don't like the albums -- so why shouldn't he get paid for any publishing rights? The other guys in the band felt they should get a share of those rights even though they didn't write the music. Ed disagreed. These things happen. Some members of the band are being more mature about the split than others, that much is for sure.

Which brings up the point of what exactly does the word BAND mean. Last I checked, it meant a group of musicians working together to make music. Not one guy doing it all his way and (speculation, but probably true) threatening to leave if he don't get his way.
And I've mentioned before in a post few months back somewhere that the guys were probably a little scared to break things off. You know, being in the one band all their working lives. Their only real job. But one can only take so much till they can't take no more. And that's what happened and here we are.
