Title says it all really...

We have now heard music from the two bands and we all know what the last album sounded like. Would you say that the two groups can do more separately than together or is the split just a huge waste of time for both groups because Live is really all they had?

No "Maybes" you fence sitters. bomb.gif

I voted 'yes' ... Live ending to me was a mercy killing. I felt like the pathetic one in a relationship that was ended by the girl yet I keep holding out on hope she'll change her mind and not wanting to move on. Live barely impressed me with anything for nearly 10 years, and the previous 10 before that they blew my mind with awesomeness. Them splitting was like me snapping out of it going "thank god". I'd have absolutely loved them to continue on, but only if they could recreate the magic .. but they wern't, so in the end I'm a fan of the split with all its negative aspects.

At this point in time, yes. That's not to say that I prefer having two separate bands to Live or anything, just that at this specific time, it's probably better for those involved, and we'll probably get more passionate music from the two separate bands.

Thanks. That saved me writing it. I honestly think in retrospect, Live should have called it a day after they finished touring for TDTH and gone out on a high. I would have missed them terribly, but I would have had far more respect for them as artists if they had split amicably back then. For the last decade they've basically been Ed Kowalczyk and his backing band rather than Live anyway. With a split 3 albums back Ed could have pursued his solo career and the other guys would have been less battle weary and bitched less.

Argh! Because I loved Live so much back in the day, I'm doing that pathetic one in the relationship thing again here, wasting my time with what ifs instead of cutting my losses and not giving a shit.

considering the music just got worse and worse i guess it was a good thing (can it get worse than SFBM? thats a dark and depressing avenue i for one am glad i wont get the opportunity to explore). But when all is said and done, the whole thing just sucks. The lead singer went insane. Perhaps the he was the only individual truly affected by the millenium bug? Has anyone actually checked to make sure he isnt a robot? like the guy on the spaceship that went mad and tried to kill ripley?

yes no i dont know. im on the fence and just try get me off mofo

I am in for yes because it all deteriorated since 2001. Yes their mainstay was playing in concert. The artistical direction was not what I hoped for and I got angrier over time with the new music. The split is more therapudic to me. Ed changed the ballgame back then and I noticed it and I have been boiling over since. Hence my comedic attacks on Ed. I'll listen to both bands, but most certainly more heavily weighted towards TGF.

+1

My feelings exactly.

The only reason that I kept calling the ex-girlfriend and kept sitting in my car at night up the block from her house waiting to see her -- was that going to see Live in concert was as thrilling an experience as the ex-girlfriend coming back to my apartment once a month and sleeping with me like it was 10 years ago. That kept me going.

My thoughts exactly.

Anyone notice that everyone who posted a comment said yes and gave reasons, yet the poll has more votes for NO without a single comment as to why they did? I'm just picturing a disgruntled middle aged wife frantically clicking on the no option and bitching under the nose cause the band split. wink.gif

Just an odd observation I guess, kinda bored here today.

I'm voting yes as well. After the split, I've been really digging deep into myself and listening to their music through different ears in a way. It really was magical in the beginning. Recently I stumbled on the Unplugged session (HUGE THANKS TO RIDLEY FOR THAT!!!!!) and seeing them, on top of the world, so young and full of music almost brought me to tears.

I've given a listen to Zion, and it really just doesn't do it for me knowing the +boyz+ aren't behind the music. I'll have to wait and see if TGF can pull off what Ed couldn't, at least for me.

Shinedown song right? ......sometimes goodbye is a second chance.

Haha this made me chuckle. But alas, it's inaccurate. Why would all the disgruntled moms be here when they could be refreshing Ed's twitter page instead? rolleyes.gif

Voted yes.

The breakup was sad for all fans, even the most disgruntled, as until their last days a Live concert was always a great experience, even if the newer music was less then stellar. However, being apart allows for both parties to explore different musical routes, and for Pat and the Chads, allow them to actually have a damned say in what music they're writing/performing. It saddens me that I'll probably never see another Live concert again, but if the guys have their hearts back in the music and it leads to some great albums then it's all for the best.
