The release date for Live's new album has officially been pushed back yet again in the United States, now scheduled for a June 13th release date. The Sony Records Store has also re-posted the pre-order page for the new album back to their website. This now makes it the 4th time the album has been delayed (prior release dates were originally scheduled for November 15th, March 21st, April 11th, and May 9th). No reason has been given for this latest delay though, or if it is subject to change again. The new album will also be released this week in Holland, Australia, New Zealand, and other International countries; and will be released on May 9th in Canada.

"The River" dropped again in airplay this week. Geffen was able to get Heaven solid airplay, unfortunately Epic seems to be a bit less willing to push the band. What good is there in releasing a second single if the label refuses to push it? LIVE made a great POP/Hot A/C album, but unfortunately the songs may never reach its intended audience. There aren't enough alternative/rock songs to release to that market either, even if they had a good one I doubt US rock stations will play LIVE again. They rather play generic punk rock.

Its a shame because The River and Mystery are exceptional singles in the proper format, but they aren't getting the airplay because Epic won't take the necessary chance of really pushing LIVE.

How is The River dropping in airplay?

KMXP is playing it twice an hour, at least.

Maybe they're hoping it will eventually rock. nervous.gif

Don't they know that the longer it is until it's released the more likely we won't buy it, because we'll all have boots by then?

KMXB may be playing it alot (they played it 26 times total last week), but the total number of spins in the Hot AC format has declined over the past week. So it may be doing great in your market, but overall its airplay is now on the downfall. There are only 7 stations in the whole US who are playing it more than 20 times a week currently, which is pretty bad for a first single that has been out for 2/3 months).

Epic is not concerned with the hundreds of LIVE fans that know the album has been leaked and those of us who have been following it through every release date. They're much more concerned with the larger picture...with the right promotion, they could change sales figures by tens of thousands.

My gut says a new version of "I Walk the Line" will be released as a single sometime in May. If I'm wrong, Epic really needs to start promoting "The River" stronger, or release Mystery. Since "The Fray" and Natasha Bedinfield both have 2 hit singles topping the Hot A/C charts and climbing the POP charts, LIVE has been treated like Epic's forgotten step-child. Now that the album has been pushed again, Epic needs to figure the next step, hopefully its a step that benefits the band.

I don't think the new mix of Mystery would make any impact as a radio single. Maybe the old version, minus the strings. I like the strings in thebeginning but they are too overbearing when it comes to the chorus, in my opinion.

I think the strings add a lot to Mystery. For me it stands up with LIVE's best work.

and

2) it says May 9th as a release date for SFBM
