Down the years we've gone to the shows and downloaded countless bootlegs of LIVE's performances and lately while listening to them I've really found that my favourite parts of the show has been the opening song and the last song (by that I mean the performance of WD and not DWY).

Just wondered what other people's favourite openers were/are and if you have any videos or mp3s to share of those performances. Last/closing songs of the setlist would also be cool.

As I said, my favourite closing performance of a set list has always and will always be WD...notably the Vorst National in Belgium, May 2003. and the MTV Unplugged performance as well springs to mind.

As for openers, I was blown away at how powerful Like I Do was when I saw LIVE a second time in 2003. It totally amped up the entire crowd and the show zoomed by at that same shot-of-adrenalin-like pace. I've always like WFG as an opener tho.

Looking forward to hearing/seeing some of your favs.

R

Favorite opener: WFG or Rattlesnake (which I both never heard Live, too bad).
Favorite closer: W, D ...and not really DWY - The song is great, but it does with the show as what Horse does with TC: slow it all down at the very end. After the explosion of W, D the show should end, leaving everyone wild!

And I agree with you on LID, the very one time I heard that song live I'll never forgoet: fantastic!

Favorite Opener:

Jam leading into WFG

Surprised the 7/27/01 AC show was opened with LJ

Always most favorite closer: WD hands down.

lucky enough to have seen WFG (2000), LID (2003) and RS (2006) as openers... I know they've opened with AOY a few times as well... oh and not to mention Simple Creed.

I think my favorite I've seen live has been Simple Creed in 2001 .. the lights going down, "intro" being played before they explode onto the stage with Ed then running out like a mad mother fucker to begin singing.. pure energy.

My absolute and only fave opener still remains in me dreams. A siren spinning with band entering the stage and slamming into Vine Street with Ed running in in time to start screaming "Take a left..."

But indeed, never seeing them on stage my fave from the boots is WFG. And WD as a closer for sure. The crowd shall not be put to sleep at the end of the show, but leave the venue full of energy, jumping, screaming and ready for more.

You've never seen a show?

I have for sure seen a hundred of their shows, but never in real life. That is why I do not think I can judge really.

Summer sounds is a good example of WFG. I like TDAOC as an opener. Soft and quiet then an explosion of energy by the end.
