the thread topic and the poll questions are not one in the same... which album was currently being promoted when you found out about LIVE? -- to answer that-- i would say TC..

but I answered based on the thread topic NOT the poll question.. .. which album hooked me -- inexplicably - it was SS.. i certainly was a fan and loving TC when it came out.. but SS sealed the deal for me.. had it not.. i dont think i would have continued to the follow the band throughout their career.. and TC would have been certainly in my top favorite albums ever.. alongside PJ's Ten.. but w/o SS.. for me my love affair w/Live would have been shortlived..

MJ on the radio in Spring 1992, but what really hooked me was seeing Ed and Chad G acoustic later that Spring. And since then I bought every album, most singles and seen them every time they were within driving distance (and sometime a little farther from home)

Got hooked when I saw the Operation Spirit music video on TV way back in the day. It took me forever to find the album and had to have it special ordered... on tape. Then a little while later Throwing Copper came out and boom the band exploded.

As for other great bands that didn't get huge until their second album, there are too many to name really.

The band will have been touring TDTH but still playing old material as well, such as PLOTR.

First time I specifically remember hearing Live, and instantly loved the sound, was when MTV was airing parts of Woodstock '94 live. It was a big event when it happened.

They introduced Live and the band played Selling The Drama. I thought the song was fucking awesome rockin.gif

I went out and bought Mental Jewelry the next day because I didn't know the name of the song and ended up with the wrong CD.

TDTH for me; caught on late. I was in year ten (age 15) at the time and it was just before the school trip up to the Gold Coast. Someone gave me a copy of the cassette (along with a few others) to take up and listen to on the 22-hour bus ride there.

Fell in love. Also rather liked the band. Bought the album as soon as we got home. Flogged it massively, bought the previous three and went hunting for bootlegs pretty soon after. Still my favourite album along with Garbage: v2.0.

I was living in Santa Clara, CA when TC came out. I asked for the cd for Xmas but Santa (silly man) forgot. Life, career, kids got in the way but when we bought our new sound system for the house (years later), when BoP was released, I FINALLY got TC and hell, I fell hard.

4 shows later, trans~america trek to see LiVE the first time at York Fair, LiVE tattoo and finding my soul chooksters, I must say they are still the band of my heart and what a great ride it IS.
