Who besides me likes them... even just a little?

I got to see them live on 10/16 at the Arizona State Fair. First time I'd seen them, so I didn't know what to expect. They freaking rock live, and if you haven't seen them live, do it. However, Robby Takac freaking sucks at singing. I like his bass work, but he should have never been the original singer.

Setlist from the show:

Long Way Down
Here Is Gone
Big Machine
Slide
Another Second Time Around [Takac]
Tucked Away [Takac]
Feel the Silence
Black Balloon
We'll Be Here (When You're Gone) - though someone actually requested "What a Scene".
Name
Stay With You
Naked
Become
Real
Slave Girl [Takac]
Before It's Too Late
Broadway
Better Days
Let Love In
Encore: Iris

John had the crowd sing for the majority of "Iris", which was cool and beautiful at the same time. And considering the fact that he is afflicted by vocal nodules, his voice was pretty damn good. Though at times, he was straining somewhat.

All in all, a great show.

I like the Goo's in concert. They are a pretty fun group. The only thing that irks me is that John never sings the chorus for Iris. It is really irritating.

I was going to see them this NYE, but Ill be Cal. Maybe next time.

I saw them in december last year. It is true, he never sings the chorus of Iris and that is annoying. Cool, but annoying.

Its the Goo's biggest song. He has to at least try to sing the chorus once. Ed sings the chorus of Lightning Crashes twice, then lets the audience sing it after the bridge. A much better method.

Even though "Slide" charted a position higher?

Rzeznik was approached to write a song for the City of Angels soundtrack, and the end product was "Iris". He wrote this song while breaking several years of writer's block and sobriety. It is this song that had propelled the band to stardom, as it stayed on top of Billboard Hot 100 Airplay charts for 18 weeks, and was nominated for three Grammys that year. According to interviews with Rzeznik, he was experiencing serious bouts of writers' block when he was approached to write a song for the City of Angels soundtrack, and, according to Rzeznik, he was on the verge of quitting the band days before he wrote the song that would launch the band to worldwide fame.

Slide was a product of Iris' success.

I saw them with the Counting Crows a while back. Thought they were very good. They are one band where I like a good majority of the songs but their biggest singles are the songs I like the least. I second the comment that the other band member should not sing any of the songs though, thats the signal to hit the restroom! Kind of like a drum solo!
