First trailer:

Visually, this movie looks stunning. Love how they used The Beginning is the End is the Beginning by the Pumpkins in it.

Wasn't that Smashong Pumpkins song made for the Batman & Robin movie? How unoriginal.

I hope they take the "Is it batman, you are" chorus out then or it may sound a bit silly.

There is no "Is it batman, you are" chorus. Batman isn't even mentioned in the song.

The lyrics are:

Is it bright where you are?
Have the people changed?
Does it make you happy you're so strange?
And in your darkest hour
I hold secrets' flame
You can watch the world devoured in its pain

The lyrics actually fit the movie very well. And I'm glad it's finally being used for a good movie (well visually good as of now, cause I haven't seen the whole thing yet, but if it's half as good as the graphic novel, it should be at least decent) instead of the crap that was Batman and Robin.

I've seen the trailer and my early review is that it looks as good as Batman and Robin (with George Clooney). The novel may be great but it just looks cheesy.

Well, I disagree. Visually, it looks great. I love how Dr. Manhattan looks. If you're referring to the storyline, well... storywise, even I can't tell how it's going to be just from the trailer. So gonna reserve judgement until the movie comes out for that.

I can tell you how it's going to be from the novel. A watchman dude gets dusted and the rest of the Watchmen look into the conspiracy to kill them all in a world where superhero's have been banned.

It's a rental.

Oops - you're right. blush.gif

For some reason I always hear that - I could do a whole misheard lyrics novella with anything Billy Corgan wraps his vocal chords round due to that nasal twang he has. Mind you, I'm not the greatest Smashing Pumpkins fan - they make me wish I was deaf.

Yeah, and Spiderman is about a guy whose uncle gets killed, and he gets bit by a radioactive spider and becomes a superhero. Everyone who reads the graphic novel knows the synopsis of the story. It's how it's translated into movie form that will determine how good it is. To me, it's probably nearly impossible to capture the depth of the graphic novel into a 2-3 hour movie. But hopefully it captures enough to make it good.

Corgan's voice is an acquired taste. I for one love his voice. I think the Pumpkins are one of the best bands to come out of the alternative boom. They are really underrated. Nirvana and Radiohead are the ones who critics love and get most of the credit. But I'd put the Pumpkin's work right up there with anything those two bands have put out.

Yourfacesucks, these are for you:

Watchmen & More

‘300’ director brings ‘Watchmen’ to Comic-Con

Moviegoers get wound up over ‘Watchmen’

I definately would check out the first one! You'll like it (and I'm not being sarcastic)! It's a discussion about the film.

^Awesome, thanks. The fact that they aren't shying away from the R rating and the darker aspects of the graphic novel to please the masses makes me even more excited for the film. I'm not surprised that Alan Moore is distancing himself from the project since he's done that with almost every other adaptation. Even with V For Vendetta (which I thought was a pretty good adaptation), he thought it was used to satirize Bush era America too much for his liking.
