So, which song do you guys think did NOT belong at the end of an album? Also, what song should have been there in it's place? Any album, and songs can cross albums if it sounds good and isn't anachronistic.

Horse wins in a landslide. I thought all the other ending tracks were pretty appropriate for the albums they were on.

Horse was great because it was an unexpected curveball at the end of the album. Especially since it wasn't even listed.

I've got to say hands down "What Are We Fighting For?" - bad anti-war song that doesn't even belong on the album. Something that rocks like White, Discussion would have been great.

In fact - LIVE IF YOU ARE LISTENING - an album with edge, I mean a whole album that rocks from start to finish like White Discussion with no soft stuff for once would be awesome!!!!

Go Lions!

It can't be Horse because that is a hidden track. I'll go with "What are we fighting for".

I don't get all this animosity towards Horse. I agree with Hoodstock, Horse was the perfect ending to Throwing Copper.

Throwing Copper not ending with Horse would be like it not starting with The Dam At Otter Creek. Part of the reason this album was so successful and "grew" it's way to number one after a year of being on the charts was because of how well placed the tracks were. Not only were there some really great songs but they were ordered so it flowed perfectly.

After the "apocalyptic" ending with White,Discussion all of a sudden everything is washed away and you have a simply old catchy upbeat country rock song. In my opinion this song is arguably the best last song on a Live album. Live tried to duplicate this last song effect to some degree with Secret Samadhi and "Gas Hed Goes West". Unfortunately, the song didn't have the straight forward simplicity that Horse had.

("Horse" haters at least have to respect the bass line in that song)

Switch What Are We Fighting For with Like I Do (and then take WAWFF off the album smile.gif).

I've said this before and I'll say it again, "Night of Nights" is one of the best tunes that Live has done in the last while... compounded by the fact that it's the last track on a record and it's even more effective. SFBM has some weak moments, but Night of Nights is a good taste to have in the mouth when the album shuts down.

Agreed.

Night of Nights and Overcome are the only 2 songs I've really, thoroughly enjoyed since TDTH. Oh, and We Deal in Dreams ...but that was an outtake. sad.gif

I think Horse was a great ending, I love that song. In a nod to an earlier comment, the tracks on TC were incredibly well-placed from start to finish. That's one of the reasons why the album was what it was.

Hero of Love, and most album-enders after TDTH were out of place, I thought. But that's more a reflection on the albums in general. What I'm saying is that if it's not a good album, it doesn't matter what song comes at the end.

Good comment. I wouldn't even remember Night of Nights if a few members didn't say they like it so much.
