I think you will find 'Older' wins in a landslide.

I am on of their biggest fans, but I really don't enjoy much of anything they put out after TDTH.

I actually halfway enjoy post-TDTH stuff, but the old stuff is way better. Who the hell voted new stuff?

Halfway?? angry.gif

Personally, I force myself to enjoy it which is pretty sad indeed.

The only song I can say that I sincerly love post TDTH is Like I Do. Which I happen to think is the best tune Live has ever made. It sticks out like a sore thumb on BOP.

its all about old school for me. TC is the one album I can listen to allll the way through, no skips, ands or buts. Wickedly brilliant.

I think Like I Do is a pretty forced track with awful lyrics.

yeah Like I do stands out. It's the only song of post-TDTHera that can really match the old stuff, but i don't say they haven't done other good things after TDTH.

Anyhoo, offcourse my vote goes to OLD STUFF

This is a no brainer - old music of course! I listen to the new stuff but I listen to the old songs more.

Well that's your opinion. I agree that the lyrics aren't great though. But the music is nowhere near being forced to me. I think that the sound goes back to classic LIVE and that the drumwork in this song is far superior to that on any other LIVE track ever recorded. I think the combination of bass and snare is wicked and eerie sounding. The drop off and the music in the middle of the song when Ed sings "Don't Leave" is chilling and the short guitar riff that leads back into an even faster pace is brilliant. Ed even goes back to his old growling ways at the end.

To me, nothing forced about it period. This song flows, rocks and is probably one of the most creative songs they've ever made. Gracey's work during the last 30 seconds is brilliant, fast paced and well done. Great song from start to finish and in my book? The best they have ever done hands down.

Well, the original poster was the first person who voted "New Stuff" and subsequently two other users voted "new stuff" as well. Simple mathematics really.

Old stuff, no contest.

But this thread did get me thinking....I spend so much time lamenting the poor quality of the new stuff, that I forget there are newer songs that I genuinely like. Not songs that I trick myself into liking, like The River, but songs that I adore through and through.

Off BoP, I think She (esp the extended version) and Lighthouse are great. Their lyrics are underrated. LiveRocks, it's the bridge in Lighthouse, as opposed to Like I Do, that gives me chills. I think the line, "Even if you drink from the chalice of cheap escape and fade away..." is amazing in the context of ANY album.

Off V, I'm a fan of Hero of Love, Call Me a Fool. I may get some shit for liking Call Me a Fool, but I think it's a beautifully crafted song, and, again, the lyrics are fresh and original in my mind.
