Cool. I've heard strong rumors that they'll be added to the Coachella line-up as well. I'm not a huge fan of The Police, but it would be cool to see them together.

Holy shit! I love The Police. I never in a million years thought they would ever play together again!

I guess I actually have to watch the Grammys now! angry.gif At least they will be opening the show.

This is cool. I wonder if they'll tour or record another album. Though it would be pretty lame if they only did a greatest hits tour without having anything new to play in concert.

I heard on Stern today that there were rumors of a possible tour. No mention of a new cd though.

I work with a major Police-nerd (he can talk about songs and tours and band members the way we talk about Live) and he told me about a new box set that is ***SUPPOSEDLY*** coming out. Message In A Box 2. Some new tracks, some new versions of old tracks, and everything else in-between.

He also said there have been ***RUMORS*** of an 80-city tour. He’s basically prepared to sell everything he owns and live in a cardboard box so he can get his hands on tickets.

There is a lot of hoopala surrounding the reunion of a so-so 80's band. It's not like the Beatles are getting back together. It's just the Police. They are .... well they're O.K., nothing special.

LOL
What are you, 20? Name one other trio that has done 1/2 the work The Police have. As a group, and each member individually.

No. If you checked you would realize that we're actually pretty close in age but you do have me by a few years. By the way, just because they individually have had some accomplishments doesn't mean that together they were that good. I've heard their songs and I just don't see it. I'll put it this way, if the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame had actually serious criteria, as a group they would not make it. You don't have to agree but I stand by my position. You, likewise, are entitled to your opinion. So, enjoy the awards tonight for me because I won't be watching. They're to political with no actual substance.

(Just to be very clear, I'm saying award shows are of little actual artistic substance, not the Police, who have made a few forgettable 80's songs that don't play on any stations I listen to).

I would have to agree with Hoodstock on this one. I think the reunion of the Police is way overblown.

Good to see an old band reunite, though I am not a fan. I don't care for the songs that are still on the radio just because I feel like for the last 2 minutes of the songs they just keep singing the same line over and over.

That's not at all what I was saying. I think it's great that they did so much together ... and on top of that, they were all individually successful as well. Again, name one other trio who can say that.

So that means they aren't good? Just because you don't see it? Have a little respect. The guys are in their 50s, still doing what they love, and were able to get beyond the shit in their past to come together once again.

I can only hope I'm still doing what I love when I'm 50.

They're stats are a little weak. I think the fact that Sting had such a great solo career kept the memory of this band alive...
