Found this date on the SOY message boards and pollstar. Seems to be some type of Summertime festival. I guess I was totally wrong about Live taking a long break. Cool news, but a long way off.

omg.gif JUNE! what the hell thats just evil. here i sit going, no no we can hold off on 300$ air fare to orlando, im sure theyll have some closer locations. to bad i didnt add "and dates" in that sentence. thats just so mean. oh well. lol. guess ill see everyone in lovely fairfax county where the cops are a plenty and the traffic sucks much. smile.gif here i am come nova. hmm maybe i can work an ikea trip into that. for those wondering its off 66 between centerville and falls church. the road expansion should be done by then. and im sure theyll do shuttles or something from george washington since its their yearly fair thing. http://www.celebratefairfax.org/index.asp?sid=1

That's a great little festival. I saw Collective Soul there last year. You get to stand right up against the stage or you can get seats. Don't worry about getting seats in the first few rows though, I think they cost extra,
because the GA people get to stand in front of you anyway. The traffic really wasn't that bad (we took the backroads) and you can ride a free shuttle from the mall to the fairgrounds. If you are taking the main highway I would suggest leaving really really early. They also have a side stage with some pretty good local bands playing before and after the big show. They have beer too! thumbsup.gif

You might get a shorter setlist then usual if they have fireworks that night though.

Was Collective Soul the headliner last year? How far is the festival from Busch Gardens?

Yes CS was the headliner. There was no opening band so I don't think Live will have on either. But the show is shorter than normal due to the fireworks starting at 9 or 9:30 I think.

I'm not sure how close Busch Gardens is but I do know it's in Williamsburg so it probably is fairly close. If you are making it a weekend trip though it should be doable. Just beware that the traffic in that area is insane, you probably wouldn't be able to do both in one day.

Okay cool. If this show comes off, I'm guessing there will be a date that Saturday as well. Just have to wait and see.

Yeah I would imagine there would be a saturday date in the area as well. I do know that when CS played Fairfax they played another festival in Norfolk that Saturday. It's not far from Fairfax and it was called the Town Point Park Festival. You might want to keep an eye on their website just in case.

In no traffic Busch Garden's is 2-2.5 hours away from Fairfax, but no traffic in Virginia is impossible.

wow,. well when i head north bound on a fri it takes me about 2 1/2 hours from the burg to 66, but i go 64, to 295, to 95, to 234, to 66. that cuts out on some serious traffic. but everyone else is going south bound on a friday night and sat morning so i just look at them all park on the highway. and on sundays i head back south, while everyone else heads north. (beach house rentals are usually fri-sat or sat-sun depending on the company and location)
but june, heading southbound TOWARDS the beach, id say fairfax to the burg about 4 hours and some change. then your also looking at the start of tourist season in the parks (the time those of us who live in the area and have season passes wont touch the place) so your talking a good deal of people and the use of over flow. if you wanna do busch i would suggest april/may or sept/early oct.
also as theyre building the new coaster griffin and saying late spring it will open we're thinking its gonna open on or around 4th of july.

First off Heather, thanks for the info and I will keep my eye out on the other festival.

Malon have you ever ridden Darkastle? How does it compare to Spiderman.

Meh, I guess I COULD go to this show, but I doubt it's worth the effort. Plenty of time to wait and see if there are other shows closer before then.
