i know some will be interested and some won't, but i heard american idol alum chris daughtry's new album, and his well-documented mention of being influenced by live is definitely backed by some of the songs he's put out.

if you go to http://daughtryofficial.com you'll find a link from vh1 streaming the album, and i think fans of live will enjoy tracks 8 and 11 in particular.

really good stuff!

After hearing the songs, I would compare the album more to manufactured Nickelback than LIVE. He may be a fan of Live, but if he doesn't write his own music, none of his unfluences will show up on the album. Generic rock at its most mediocore is what I compare Daughtry to, but definitely not Live.

as i understand it, i believe he co-wrote everything, and track 8 is actually a re-worked version of 2 songs with his old band, absent element.

i'd definitely agree i feel a little nickelback in there, too.

The whole album is awesome, and Chris wrote and co-wrote almost every song on the album including writing with, Brent Smith (Shinedown), Mitch Allen (SR-71), etc. And Slash from Guns N' Roses plays guitar on "What I Want".

Awesome album.

This is good? It's alot like Nickelback but not even as good, that's not saying much. Reminds me a little of 3 doors down too, but not as good. I agree that track 8 will remind you of LIVE, but it's SFBM era live, not Throwing Copper. Isn't there enough of this bland, overproduced, generic so called rock music out there. This is just a step away from Ryan Cabrerra. Give me a break.

Which isn't a bad thing, because Ryan Cabrera is fucking talented.

Johnny Rzeznik agrees with me on this point.

Oh, and Daughtry's album fucking rocks, end of fucking story.

Album is cool. A few songs I'm not crazy about...

here's a pic of when Eddie and Chris were writing a song...from Daughtry's myspace:

i guess it isn't while they were writing a song, but by the recording of the duet version of Mystery, isn't?
