What do people here think of the killers? I was a bit so/so on the first album, there were a few good tracks like "All these things that I've done" but there was a lot of trash, that "Somebody told me" song where he demonstrates how bad his vocals can be.

But I heard some of the new album "Sam's Town" and really like it .. it's nothing ground breaking but it's much more consistant than that first. It's like mixing Sparks, Jeff Buckley, Queen and I dunno ... the Killers, all together. Some songs are very Sparks like, and whilst obviously comparing Brandon Flower's voice to JB is like comparing a bicycle to the space program, there is just something about it, he's definetly improved .. catchy tunes on the album like "Uncle Johnny" which has a simple yet addictive guitar riff through it and the title track "Sam's Town" .. either way, what do you guys think of them?

I agree....I'm a fan.

Mr. Brightside got me hooked. I must admitt I prefer their second album....definately a Jeff Buckley sound influence for sure....and Sam's town is great.

I can't wait to see them at BDO next year rockin.gif

I have to admit I do like them. I usually can't stand that type of music but for some reason I dig them. I like most of their first cd but haven't checked out the second one yet. If there is a Buckley/Queen influence I don't know how it would be possible for me not to like it.

I like "Mr. Brightside" quite well, but otherwise they're not that great.

Brandon Flowers sounds like Simon Le Bon gone emo.

My girlfriend likes them a lot. They've got some songs I actually like quite a bit, and some others that I really can't stand. I've got some respect for them though, as they seem to be doing some mildly creative stuff.

Yes, but that was purely for illustrative purposes and well you know it, bucko. That whole bicycle and space program didn't excuse you.

And +Ed+ - stop laughing you imbecile or I'll come over there and stick Ron and Russel Mael up your rectum.

Was looking forward to Sams Town. 'When you were young' had me hooked,it's one of the best songs of the year. The rest however,is dribble! I bought it so I could listen to it on the 25squillion kilometer drive back up here,it dissapointed,it didnt make it past day 2.
Quite possibly I'll never listen to it again.
I bought the new Muse one also after my mate has tried to convince me for months to get it.So I did. It's fractionally better than Sams town, but still not good. Won't make it into the long term listening category.
I bought Evanesance....the songs are unoriginal, but I love her voice stupidly!!! Especially 'lithium'.
I also bought Korn greatest hits, haha.I never got into them when I was younger, but I actually liked it for a bit of random anger...

Couldn't you have just cut the middleman out and listened to Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen? That's where it was ripped from.

Don't use Ron and Russel Mael in the same sentence. As rectum! (see what I did there to avoide backlash? smile.gif )
