I just read Chad's blurb on his myspace account and if you read between the lines, it seems that maybe he is saying that he really doesn't contribute much of his creative energy to Live's music anymore, so he is using other outlets such as producing and performing with other bands and for other projects like TV to put forth that creativity.

Here's the part I am referring too. Do I read too much into this?

"I obviously still love and enjoy playing music with three of my best friends while on tour for LIVE and remain equally excited by the creative possiblities presented by pushing my creative juices to new levels and in new directions, while enjoying my children's youth."

He writes that after describing his work on the TV show and the band Century. As for Live, he "enjoys playing music... while on tour". As for creativity, he is "excited by the creative possibilities presented by pushing my creative juices to new levels and in new directions".

There seems to be a subtle dichotomy there. I think that's unfortunate if it's true, because Chad's creative energy created some of the best stuff that Live has done.

Agreed. Live is becoming The Ed Kowalcyk Band. Taylor and Pat are being taken out of the decision-making, music-playing, and writing processes. Gracey was never really a big part of these things anyway, so nothing is changing as far as he goes, but it's definitely unfortunate to see what's happening to the other two band members. Some of the best Live songs involved a lot of major participation by Pat and Chad T.

I agree with everything Tabucky said.

Really, I like Ed and everything, but Taylor, Gracey and Pat are all excellent musicians who deserve better treatment.

The thing is, if they wanted to leave, they could leave. They're there because they want to be there (for whatever reason) and they keep on keepin' on.

Who knows if they're just comfortable and don't want to start all over again in a new band or actually like what they're doing in Live.

At least Taylor and Gracey have side things that they're doing... Taylor's got the producing side of things (I SWEAR he needs to produce album 8) and his movie stuff and Gracey has his off-road truck business. Pat... well.. it's Pat! lol.gif

I also agree with Tabucky... it's the Ed Band. However, we can't fault them if they stay... it is their choice.

Its a great gig. They play with their friends. They dont really have to write any music or good music for that matter. They just show up, play a small show or two, make $10-20k a piece and go home. Theyre not gonna get any richer, but it allows them to live and try to start new businesses.

I think you are reading to much into it. Chad T is obviously having a Bon Jovi moment.

By this I mean that Chad is prefering to stay close to hope and be with his kids rather than jamming with the band (as they live miles apart from one another according to the last interview i can remember).

But once out on the road he loves the feeling of being with those here cares about ( the Band and the Fans)

Plus most musicians or creative people have their hands in a little bit of every thing as its good for the mind and the taxman.

after almost 20 years of playing in the same band wouldn't u also look to other avenues for something new (creatively speaking).....? I am sure he still loves being part of the band....or he wouldn't do it, and put so much into their shows...
