I like how Ed even admits in his own backwards way that Songs From Black Mountain sucked! lol banana.gif

.....I dont see how he expects to reignite his creativity since he was the one doing all the writing the past two albums. He is the one to blame, not the other guys for how bad some of the songs have been over the past decade. Hell, even he admits that this album ALive was rushed a bit. Seems he did this album the same as the past two and will end up getting the same results. I like several of the songs on Alive buts thats the problem. I like a few songs on SBFM and most on BOP. But the first four? I liked every single song. Maybe one day Ed will wake up from his own "fog" and realize what made LIVE so great those first four albums was not him but a collective effort of all 4 guys.

His circle talk over I needed a new avenue is getting old. He has rushed Alive too...he admits, of course, he's been backed into the corner and feels a bit threatened, Once pressed we see how he can crack. I think if he doesn't settle out of court paying back, he'll get eaten alive in a courtroom.

OMG that is painful to watch. In Part I, I swear I thought he was about to go Mel Gibson. I'm sure someone got an earful after that interview.

Looking at his face answering all of these questions, creative, break-up, etc, he just seems to have a real "huckster" quality to him.

In reference to the last line of the 4th segment regarding the video for Grace... The first "White, Discussion" video was in black and white... was it not?

Ed answered the questions posed very well.

Chad is the one who just posted a newblog that contradicted his "damning of Ed" blog that was picked up by the majority of all rock websites on the net. He looks like a total fool at the moment.

In this strange, bizarro universe where your brain apparently resides, exactly what color is the sun?

Wow..

That was a VERY awkward interview. You can tell how uncomfortable Ed was about the questions about the lead singer bonus and the coffee deal. He clearly didn't want to clear things up or even speak about it.

His mannerisms during the group of questions clearly tell us that he knows he made some poor choices and decisions that he wouldn't know us, as the fans, to know about. So instead of answering the question directly, he danced around it.

Can anyone actually disagree with this after watching that interview?

Yea...he very well might have made poor choices that he doesn't want the fans to know. But there is a difference between making poor choices, and having his character portrayed the way it was. I'm not saying he definitely isn't totally to blame either. In any case, it might not have been very easy or wise to explain in detail and make that situation perfectly clear right there in the interview, especially since it probably involves a whole bunch of behind the scenes things that probably should stay behind scenes. That and it just crushes what hes aiming to do with the interview, keep the vibe warm and run with the solo stuff. Ed knew he was getting roasted with each question, gotta hand it to the interviewer for knowing what the deal was.

This interview had many unbelievable quotes.

First like I said, that going back to Live "would be a step backwards creatively" (again, WTF!!!!), then: "Ive never done anything dishonest" followed by "I'm here to talk about my solo album!" and the most unbelievable was "I hope the other 3 have heard my album, cuz I think they would love it!"

I think he was referring specifically to the SFBM-ish era.....I guess some here agree that they like the solo better than SFBM.

But in any case, hes always gotta say the new is better than the previous. thems the rules.

Me neither. He frigging lied on NATIONAL TV with MILLIONS OF AMERICANS watching when he said he had written Overcome AFTER 9/11... give me a break ED! You lied to our FACE. What makes you think you didn't LIE, STEAL and CHEAT from your band mates?

I'm sure whatever attitude he in the past 20 years had also helped out his band mates an incredible amount overall.

Not being an ass is part and parcel of being a good interviewer. If the subject suspects you're just being an ass or have an agenda, defenses go up and answers get guarded. The best interviewers know how to ask questions that require more than simple answers and then ask for clarification when necessary.

His English was plenty up to the task.

All of his questions were underhanded enough for Ed to know he was being attacked. Snidely comments like wow, it took you way longer to make good record. I gotta say Ed looked tired like he need some coffee. But still, Ed worked around the interviewer very professionally. Never lost his cool, smiled when he told the guy to shut the fuck up about the allegations and change the subject. I wonder if the interviewer knew about the court situation. I wonder how CCP would react to that interview.

Well I've sat through all 5 parts now, and honestly I didn't think I could have lost even more respect for Ed. Then I watched all 5 parts, and really lost whatever shred of respect that I still might have had for him.

1. He's a complete pussy, and clearly isn't man enough to answer the real tough questions.
2. He indirectly insults his former friends/bandmates once again.
3. He's just a flat out liar, and it frustrates me.

Ed's not a complete vag. Not man enough to answer questions? Manliness won't get those questions right. He was mostly out to promote the album. In doing so, like all albums, hes gotta say its better than the last. He kept saying that it was fresh. He had to incorporate the breakup cause the interviewer kept pushing the topic. He lied about not making a b and white video, no biggie. Hes probably lying about believing the record is really great, although he did self depricate, but whatever, thats a harmless lie, all the members have been doing that for every album. I think he seemed pretty honest about how some of the lyrics and songs came together, even though I dont like the songs too much, I think it was pretty cool to hear him deconstruct it.

I am eating this up, wow, totally looks uncomfortable.....you know that lying uncomfortable feeling..........LIES

Where's the Lie to Me guy????

Pink pop was a mischaracterization......wow, we had studio time booked?? Holy shit.

Black Coffee secret contract, another mischaracterization.....WTF, you're being sued man.

Ed needs to stay solo, I don't want him back singing for Live......he's a slimy snake.

Process to wind down in Live, after he held them over a barrel. No freshness......he stifled the band for 10 fucking years!!!!

Can you say transparent asshat?

I dont think he was referring to studio time, he just said studio, just an industry term..i guess trying to say he wasn't involved the way it was expressed by Chad. Hes being sued, but the accuracy of his characterization can't be determined just because he was sued. He said his decision to move solo was very unpopular and what happened was a reaction to that....finally some more defense on Ed's part. I'll believe it when I see it for myself.

I love the totally sudden close up shots of Ed's face just as the hard questions get asked. What a team they got there at faceculture.

Aitkens, I completely agree with you here. I think most of us are as angered as we are because for so many years, we worshipped this guy (probably as much as Nick worships him now, which is sad in itself I guess). It turns out he cheats and lies right to our faces.

Everything we thought about this man was completely untrue and we feel eternally cheated for it.

Wouldn't you agree?

If he didn't have that business savvy and sense of what people wanted, he wouldn't have made it to the top at all. Gotta take it for what its worth, he still delivered the goods. Sucks that he had to trifle later on.
Please don't put your life in the hands of a rock and roll band, they'll throw it all away.

It seems like Ed might have been between a rock and a hard place when it came to money, his band and his life.

It's quite possible Ed was running into some financial trouble and needed the extra money to bail himself out, possibly keep up on his mortgage.

The problem is he stole from his band mates to try to make ends meet.

I guess it's a little hard to blame the guy, but at the same time he really screwed himself in the end.

Now he's stuck putting out this subpar music with subpar musicians to try to make ends meet.

Honestly, I feel bad for the guy. He needs some help with decision making.

It isn't determined that he stole.
