New "Face Culture" interview with Ed, 5 video's Options

He keeps it up throughout all five parts, pressing for more info. He doesn't let an answer just slide without follow-up.

I tip my hat to the interviewer. First interview that I've seen where someone at least attempted to put Ed's feet to the fire and then actually press him a bit.

yeah, although this interviewer isnt an ass at all, so to speak. He just wants to focus on all aspects of an artist and get out of them all that's inside. Like he said, Live breaking up was the beginning of Ed solo, so when Ed wants to talk about being solo, he has to face the start of it.
The interviewer's english may suck but I liked all the interviews Ive seen fronm him over the years.

This interview had many unbelievable quotes.

First like I said, that going back to Live "would be a step backwards creatively" (again, WTF!!!!), then: "Ive never done anything dishonest" followed by "I'm here to talk about my solo album!" and the most unbelievable was "I hope the other 3 have heard my album, cuz I think they would love it!"

Me neither. He frigging lied on NATIONAL TV with MILLIONS OF AMERICANS watching when he said he had written Overcome AFTER 9/11... give me a break ED! You lied to our FACE. What makes you think you didn't LIE, STEAL and CHEAT from your band mates?

Not being an ass is part and parcel of being a good interviewer. If the subject suspects you're just being an ass or have an agenda, defenses go up and answers get guarded. The best interviewers know how to ask questions that require more than simple answers and then ask for clarification when necessary.

His English was plenty up to the task.

Come on, Ed. If you only let Chad, Chad and Patrick participate only 10% in your songwriting, they would have givebn you OCEANS of creativity (to say it in Ed's water-terms). But no, Ed chooses to work with a few unknown musicians, to get the 'spark' back. He just implies that the new drummer have him so much more inspiration than Gracey! I just can't believe this whole thing.

Ed makes it seem like HE was the one who wanted to part ways when he implies that the band was angry about a solo project. It is clear they got shafted by Ed's shady behind-the-back business dealings and they couldn't stand to be near him anymore.

This interview confirms what most of us have been saying about Ed the last few months. I'm sorry, but anyone who says otherwise is just being a total fanboy... I think we all know who that is

Well I've sat through all 5 parts now, and honestly I didn't think I could have lost even more respect for Ed. Then I watched all 5 parts, and really lost whatever shred of respect that I still might have had for him.

1. He's a complete pussy, and clearly isn't man enough to answer the real tough questions.
2. He indirectly insults his former friends/bandmates once again.
3. He's just a flat out liar, and it frustrates me.

Holy Shit this interview was awesome!!!!! I think this was very revealing in the relationship with Ed and the rest of LIVE. He doesnt want to talk about it at all. He even said he doesnt even talk to them anymore. Crazy! " mischaracterizaton" ???? That's an attorny statement if I ever heard one. Budgetary deal?????? huh? WOW!

Aitkens, I completely agree with you here. I think most of us are as angered as we are because for so many years, we worshipped this guy (probably as much as Nick worships him now, which is sad in itself I guess). It turns out he cheats and lies right to our faces.

Everything we thought about this man was completely untrue and we feel eternally cheated for it.

It seems like Ed might have been between a rock and a hard place when it came to money, his band and his life.

It's quite possible Ed was running into some financial trouble and needed the extra money to bail himself out, possibly keep up on his mortgage.

The problem is he stole from his band mates to try to make ends meet.

I guess it's a little hard to blame the guy, but at the same time he really screwed himself in the end.

Now he's stuck putting out this subpar music with subpar musicians to try to make ends meet.

Honestly, I feel bad for the guy. He needs some help with decision making.

when i saw chad G at their last concert ever in westbury, i said something along the lines of "dont break up" and he said "tell ed that"..maybe it was ed's decision, dont know why he would say that otherwise
