One more point, if you are a fan of Live than the best possible thing you could actually ask for is to have their music. Every recording that they have ever made (I'm talking studio quality), that would make me happy - not a plastic cassette tape just because it is limited.

Wow, you're really a party pooper when it comes to TDoaD. If you don't care for most of the music on TDoaD, at least appreciate the liner notes where Ed is referred to as Zedd (I guess he was looking for a cool "unique" name, thankfully he dropped that pretty quick).

Personally, I love TDoaD and was very happy to transcribe the lyrics and distribute it around to members in the early email SOY days. While I don't have all the Live CD releases, I consider myself a more than casual collector, having most of the released singles, major Live appearances, etc. Sure, you could just have the music to play, but a serious collector would be very interested in the sudden availability of Live's "Holy Grail".

In 1989 it wouldn't have been feasible, and actually downright expensive, for the band to put out a CD and not a cassette, so don't knock their choice of medium. Back before CD burners, cassette tape was where it was at. I'd buy all my music on CDs, but I would quickly copy them to tape where I could put extra tracks, play them in my car, walkman, trade tapes of rare stuff with others, etc. The whole mp3 thing is so sterile now, no personal touch to the "tape trading" process anymore. (Of course I am romanticizing as there are a lot of downsides to tape of course, and I will admit that I never recorded another cassette after I bought my first CD burner, a Live mix was my first burned CD).

like the search for the holy grail, it is the journey through LiVE, life that we learn what the grail means to each of us.

Well....looks like bidding is over. Someone bought it for my Buy It Now price. Sorry Hoodstock. I would have sold it to you for $5 to break, but I'd rather take the $700. wink.gif

Holy Schnikes! Good for you, Swami.

This is the only album I don't have and I don't know if I could ever pay $700 for a cassette. No matter how rare or how much I want it in my collection (trust me, I do), I just couldn't part w/that much $$. Unless I was super rich and money was like toliet paper to me, I'd be SO on it!

Definitely post your other items. You may have something more affordable for us poor folks! lol.gif

I'm glad the tape didn't end up getting "broken".

Congrats swami. I know you will enjoy your 700 bux and the bidder will surely enjoy his/her cassette (damn I wish I had that!).

$662.20 after PayPal raped me with their cut of it. Buncha jerks. Oh well, still a good chunk of cash.

Paypal didn't rape you; you agreed to accept it and pay their fee. So really you just bent over and took it voluntarily.

Just to add my perspective, while us fans love DOAD, it is still in fact a poor quality recording and most of the songs are not very good. There is no way in hell I would re-release it if I were Live. What for? It'd probably sell like 1,000 copies!

Still a good hunk of cash. It almost makes me want to sell my copy, rather then it collecting dust (actually it's in a plastic wrapper, I do fast forward it and rewind it once a year or so).

Not really. I didn't need the band to find a wife and friends. Congrats though!
