Is it a quite recent number? Cuz that must mean they kicked Pat out of the band !!!!!!!!!!!! omg.gif
those numbers brought us amazing new details

Roffle, it's from SS according to Merica's formula. I know you're J/k

The thing I love about the band the most is the fact that they started all together and they are going through it all. the four of them. I know that losing at least one member will mean the end of the band. It is the way it's supposed to be I guess.

Man comparing those numbers was brilliant!! I agree with the thers that RS and BI only have the higher #'s because they were only registered for the RS album.

Thanks to those who said nice things about my theory! smile.gif

What I'm wondering though, is exactly what registering a song means. Is it written? Recorded roughly/professionally? Does it simply mean that once registered then it can be published on an album? For all we know, those new songs went no further than being lyrics on a page. So maybe the reason we've JUST found out about them is that they were never put into a full song let alone played at a concert...

If I understand correctly (from another music board I frequent)...

For a song to be registered, the main melody and the lyrics are submitted in writing for copyright purposes.

It may or may not have been recorded.

Do other bands have this many unreleased songs and covers?? If you don't count the songs on the 7 major albums there are still so many! There has to be over 30 including improvs and covers.

Ed stated in an interview in May 1999 in Boston that they recorded 20 songs for TDTH. I don;t doubt it the way they approached that album, but I havnt really heard any stats on the other albums.

It seems to make sense that most are around the BOP era, I swear I heard someone say way back before BOP was released that a lot of stuff didn't make the cut but there was never any mention of names or if it was even recorded properly. It's quite possible that most of those songs don't even exist now so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

Nah...if the songs were recorded they still exist in some format. Eventhough they dont's get released...bands don't destroy recorded songs, just in case. But, with the way that the band reacts to questions about unreleased material, I doubt they will ever be released in a legal manner.

Is The Beacon a real song? It seems like its one of those interludes, like what they used to play before Dolphins Cry. I heard an awful MP3 of it, but it didn't really sound like a complete song

No, 'The Beacon' isn't a real song. It's just an improv from a show in London in 1999.

Wow. I've been away from the forums for the most part for a while now...there hasn't been much going on in LIVE Land. But I just read through this thread a couple days ago and was pretty intrigued by the discovery of a few unknown songs in LIVE's BMI registry. There are plenty of songs we already knew about, but it's pretty cool to hear about some more that we could maybe one day get our hands on.

I agree with whoever wrote that LIVE rarities are exciting since so little get released to us officially.

I took the time to make a spreadsheet with all of this information and put them in numerical order by BMI number, so anybody can refer to it if they're interested.

http://sax7078.home.comcast.net/~sax7078/liveworks.htm

And I don't know if anybody is a fan of the band Black Lab or has even heard of them, but they'd probably be my favorite band of all time if LIVE's earlier work wasn't so amazing. I compiled a list of theirs, too, and got some responses to it and my post on their forums straight from the band members! (Both of them...it's a two-man band.) Paul, who basically is Black Lab, emailed me to talk about a few things: "also, wicked spreadsheet thing you made. very, very cool. I'll link to it in the next news." And Andy, the mixer, mentioned how their BMI registry is really out of date and that we wouldn't believe how much stuff they've recorded in the last five years. I love how they're so close with the fans. I wish we'd get any kind of interaction from LIVE. Pat wished me a happy birthday on MySpace a couple years ago and that's it. tongue.gif

OK, I went a little off topic there. Anyway, I hope people will find my link useful as a reference!

hey J. Say, tnx for making that, it's cool to compare all the era's songs.

2 strange things: the Intro on V is registered only recently, while it was made in 2001.

Allmost all of the unreleased TDTH has a higher number than the rest of TDTH, while I think many outtakes were early TDTH (according to the 1998-concerts).

I think the guys need to interact with us indeed nod.gif just like the band you said did. would be cool!

Hi there,

On the J. Sax list Overcome is listed as a non official release. As i read it an outtake from TDTH, just as Change, New City, Don't Wait, Deeper, and Still Aroused.

I have a couple of unreleased songs like the rest of you, but according to the list i don't have any recording of these songs:

- Heard a Lot of Talk
- Throwing Copper
- Change
- New City
- Proverbs of the Company
- All is Crazy on the Action Front
- St. Peace is Now
- Keenan Says Yes
- Playing by Heart
- Fly
- Intro

Cheers!
