Who are these casual fans you keep referring to? If they aren't on here or Facebook, where are they? Most likely they have fallen off the radar and have done so because their interest level is pretty low. I can't see someone with low interest in Live getting worked up about who the singer is. Like I said, they probably couldn't even identify him. I doubt they care or could tell if they heard something akin to the All Over You version we heard by the new singer. We have yet to hear any new music too. Maybe it will be closer to classic Live than SFBM. Any opinion about it right now is simply speculation. If it does rock like classic Live, then the most causal of Live fans will certainly be fine with it. Even some Ed fans probably would be fine with it but I doubt they'd ever admit it.

The "casual fan" is an intangible that is being used to push an agenda. No one can really identify or define them.

Just like in politics. The "undecided" trying to be factored in when an election has candidates tied. Most of the undecided are people that don't give a shit either way.

Interest in LIVE overall has been fairly low ever since the breakup occurred. Anything but a proper reunion with all four original members most likely won't change that.

Interest in Live has been fairly low for a while now, not just the last 2 years.

How many boards and sites have we seen expire? Live-Web, Illout, and so on.

Interest in Live has been waning since V. Anything but a return to making great music as a band like they did in the 90's likely won't change that. Their best chance is with a singer who actually wants to do that.

While we're at it, what the fuck is a "proper" reunion? Get together and play the hits for the brain dead that want to hear them? That's what they were doing the past few years. We don't need more of that. No one was coming to see them to hear The River. They rode that train as far as they could. A "proper" reunion would be getting together to make the type of music that caused us all to become fans. Something Ed does not want to do, but their new singer wants to do. Anything less than reaching deep inside themselves to create the type of Live album that stands up to their early works is pointless. Why work with someone that has no interest in that? Like I said, pointless. Unless Ed comes full circle some day, don't expect them to do the ceremonial tour.

If live's only fans are the ones here and 50 thousand on facebook it's really over. Casual fans are the other people in the crowd that don't post on this board. I went to a guns n roses show a few mos back and people were wondering where slash was. The guy has been gone since 1994. Most people who have seen live in the past five years prob don't have a clue what's going on.

Also, pokey. When did I say I have no interest in the new band or think sfbm was awesome. I am answering the poll question and have said multiple times I hope new live kicks ass. I would prefer live to have stayed together and had them writing together. Wasn't that the point of this topic. Not everyone has to agree with you or blindly vote for something they have never listened to

We have identified the same fan I just differ in my opinion of how a "casual fan" might respond to new Live. I just don't see someone with a casual attitude towards the band having such a passionate hard line stance. Doesn't even make sense.

That's laughable. I'm out of touch. Go put tgf cd on and keep telling yourself how fantastic Kevin sounds. Sorry to you.

He sounds good to me there and in Candlebox so what's your point? Different strokes for different folks.

I know. Amazing. Two people on the site who don't like tgf and think even post tdth Ed is still better than new version of live.

And that is fine. But by saying "keep telling yourself" you are implying that he is trying to like his voice or trying to think he sounds great. Maybe, I don't know, he really does sound fantastic to him, me and others.

Interest in Live starting waning somewhere between TDTH and V. I remember when Overcome started getting play like crazy on Sept 11, and I told people it was the band Live, they said "oh, are they still a band?" Every concert I've talked about since then my friends (who don't go to shows with me and have varied musical tastes) say the same thing.
The general public/radio listeners (which is how I would define a casual fan) hasn't paid real attention to Live in well over 10 years.

The only "proper" reunion would be all 4 members in the same music-making frame of mind and with the same kind of teamwork that brought us the first 4 albums. I can't imagine that anytime soon.

I think it finally dawned on you that once the hiatus/breakup came that you realized that interest in Live was already gone. You're just not seeing the big picture. It's what everyone else has stated!!!

I think the poll has some merit. I mean, how many "regular" posters post here daily? Not 37. Are there some that got fed up and left that would have voted for Ed to continue fronting and writing? Sure, but enough to make the poll respectable? Make it 50/50? 60/40? I doubt it.

I'm sure that 37 different people didn't vote(multiple alias' abound at FOL).
